AMD is seeking a highly motivated Software Development Engineer to join our Embedded System Software team, building the Yocto-based build infrastructure and board support software that enable AMD Adaptive SoCs and FPGAs. You will own the layers, distributions, and toolchains that turn new AMD silicon into a buildable, supportable software platform for Linux, OpenBMC, and real-time workloads.
Working alongside AMD silicon architects, hardware designers, kernel and firmware teams, and the Yocto and OpenEmbedded communities, you will take new silicon from first power-on to a supportable, upstreamable platform, and build the images, SDKs, and reference designs customers develop against.
The ideal candidate is passionate about embedded Linux and build systems, and enjoys solving complex system-level challenges that span hardware and software boundaries. You possess strong software engineering fundamentals, deep expertise in Yocto and board support package development, and a proven ability to drive features from concept through silicon bring‑up and into production.
You are comfortable across the full stack, from a device tree node to a released SDK, and collaborate effectively with architects and engineering teams across AMD.
Bachelor's degree + 8 years of experience or Master's degree + 6 years of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
