Job summary

Black & Veatch Family of Companies in Mumbai seeks a Staff Engineering Technician - Piping to support project engineering teams. You will develop piping systems, create GA and isometric drawings, and produce MTOs while ensuring design quality and compliance with ASME/ANSI/ISO standards.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of piping design experience in oil and gas and are proficient in AVEVA E3D and AutoCAD, with strong communication and mentoring abilities to guide junior designers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years piping design experience in oil and gas.
• Proficiency in AVEVA E3D and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of ASME/ANSI/ISO codes.
• Diploma or Associate Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and model piping systems, equipment layouts, and pipe supports in AVEVA E3D.
• Produce GA drawings, isometrics, and MTOs for projects.
• Perform interdisciplinary checks and clash detection; ensure design accuracy.
• Collaborate with structural, electrical, and instrumentation teams for integrated design.
• Provide guidance to piping designers and engineers.

Job Summary

Functions in a project engineering technician capacity. Under general direction, supports engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables. Applies foundational engineering principles and established design practices to create moderately complex design concepts and solutions. Utilizes digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables. Provides technical guidance and may offer direction to other engineering professionals and technicians to ensure quality and consistency across project outputs.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and model piping systems, equipment layouts, and pipe supports within the AVEVA E3D software.
• Produce various project deliverables, including general arrangement (GA) drawings, isometric drawings, and material take-offs (MTOs).
• Conduct interdisciplinary checks and clash detection to ensure design accuracy and resolve discrepancies, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards like ASME, ANSI, and ISO.
• Work closely with other design disciplines (e.g., structural, electrical, instrumentation) to achieve integrated design solutions.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to other piping designers and engineers.
• Coordinate with project teams to ensure design alignment with project objectives and manage design tasks within project deadlines.
• Conduct piping studies based on design basis and equipment layouts for various projects.
• Strong proficiency in AVEVA E3D, with knowledge of AutoCAD also being beneficial.
• Familiarity with piping design, industry codes (ASME, ANSI, ISO), and best practices in piping system design.
• Ability to model piping, generate drawings, and understand stress requirements and equipment datasheets.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• 10-19 years’ experience in piping design, particularly in the oil and gas sectors.

Preferred Qualifications

Diploma or Certificate preferred. Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.

Minimum Qualifications
