Job summary

Enphase Energy in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced IoT/ Cloud Engineer to lead architecture and development of high-throughput Java microservices for our EV Charging products.

You will mentor a team of engineers, design scalable systems, and drive improvements in technical standards while collaborating with leadership on strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent from a reputed institution.
• 8+ years of hands-on backend development experience in Java environments.
• Strong knowledge of Spring ecosystem (Boot, Data, Security) and REST APIs.
• Experience with AWS services and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases (MongoDB) and event-driven architectures (Kafka).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-throughput Java microservices serving millions of devices.
• Develop RESTful APIs secured with OAuth 2.0 and JWT; design scalable data models in MongoDB.
• Mentor engineers and participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and sprints.
• Containerize services with Docker and deploy on AWS EKS; drive CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with Product/Program Management to plan technology upgrades and roadmaps.
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and performance through thoughtful design.

About the role:

For our EV Charging business, we seek experienced IOT/ Cloud Engineer who will be able to work across multiple products to lead effective product architecture and development

Hands-on in various technologies, Mentor team of Engineers, on day-to-day duties as well as work with leadership team on strategic initiatives

Provide hands-on technical expertise to design, engineer, deploy, and deliver including driving improvements in technical architecture, standards, and processes.

Partner with Engineering, Product Management, Program Management and Professional Services to ensure required technology upgrades/migrations/ and builds are well understood and planned into roadmaps.

What you will do:

• Design, build, and maintain high-throughput Java + Spring Boot microservices serving millions of devices
• Develop RESTful APIs (JSON/XML) secured with JWT and OAuth 2.0
• Work with MongoDB as the primary data store, designing schemas and queries for scale
• Build and consume event-driven architectures using Kafka, AWS SQS/SNS, and Kinesis
• Containerize services with Docker and deploy on AWS EKS (Kubernetes) via CI/CD pipelines
• Collaborate on system design for high availability, disaster recovery, scalability, and performance
• Write clean, testable, well-documented code with strong unit and integration test coverage
• Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and sprint planning
• Own features end-to-end — from design and implementation through deployment and production monitoring
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive reliability improvements
• Leverage AI-powered development tools for code generation, automated code reviews, test creation, technical planning, and debugging — continuously improving team productivity and code quality

Who you are and what you bring:

• B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science (or equivalent) from a reputed institution
• 8+ years of hands-on back-end development experience
• Strong proficiency in Java (8+) and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security)
• Solid experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB preferred) — schema design, indexing, aggregation pipelines
• Practical experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, SQS, SNS, Lambda, EKS, CloudWatch, or similar)
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration
• Experience with Git, Bitbucket/GitHub, and CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar)
• Understanding of RESTful API design principles, versioning, and security (OAuth 2.0, JWT)
• Strong organizational skills — ability to define, track, and deliver work independently
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
• Clear, concise written and verbal communication
• Experience with event streaming platforms — Kafka, AWS Kinesis
• Working knowledge of AWS Lambda and serverless architectures
• Understanding of WebSockets and persistent connection protocols (e.g., OCPP)
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals — TCP/IP, TLS, load balancing, connection keep-alive, timeout tuning
• Experience with AWS ALB/NLB, target groups, health checks, and sticky sessions
• Exposure to Elasticsearch / OpenSearch for search and analytics workloads
• Familiarity with SQL databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) as a secondary skill
• Knowledge of caching layers (Redis, ElastiCache)
• Understanding of observability — structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics (Datadog, ELK, Prometheus)
• Familiarity with shell scripting (Bash) for automation, debugging, and operational tasks
• Exposure to OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) or EV/IoT domain
• Experience using AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Windsurf/Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude) for development, code review, and technical planning
• Experience working in renewable energy, clean tech, or IoT companies
