Job summary

Tazapay is seeking a Staff Engineer to join our team in Chennai/Bangalore. You will architect, build, and scale cross-border payment solutions in a fast-growing fintech environment, collaborating with product, platform, and security teams.

You will mentor engineers, shape the tech roadmap, and apply AI to improve productivity and features while ensuring security and compliance across services. This role offers a ground-up opportunity and impact across the organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in commercial software development for large distributed systems.
• Experience designing, developing, testing and deploying apps in Golang, Ruby, Python, .Net Core or Java.
• Strong knowledge of Linux in production.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, distributed systems and asynchronous architectures.
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or similar.
• Ability to design low-latency RESTful services.

About the Staff Engineer role

Responsibilities (not exhaustive)

• Make architectural tradeoffs, design, write and deliver highly scalable, reliable ,secure and fault tolerant systems
• Be a role model for engineers, mentor engineers
• Demonstrate technical leadership and create impact across teams
• Apply AI for productivity and for features
• Drive software development while being secure and compliant
• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain our high developmentstandards
• Partner with the product management teams to define and execute the featureroadmap
• Translate business requirements into scalable and extensible design
• Proactively manage stakeholder communication related to deliverables, risks,changes and dependencies
• Coordinate with cross functional teams (Mobile, DevOps, Data, UX, QA etc.) onplanning and execution
• Continuously improve code quality, product execution, and customer delight

The Ideal Candidate

Education

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 10+ years of experience incommercial software development in large distributed systems

Experience

• Hands-on experience in designing, developing, testing and deployingapplications on Golang, Ruby,Python, .Net Core or Java for large scaleapplications
• Deep knowledge of Linux as a production environment
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, andasynchronous architectures
• Expert in at least 1 of the following languages: Golang, Python, Ruby, Java, C, C++
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms like AWS or similar
• Familiarity with running web services at scale; understanding of systemsinternals and networking
• Ability to design and implement low latency RESTful services
• Hands-on coder who has built backend services that handle high volume traffic.
• Strong understanding of system performance and scaling
• Possess excellent communication, sharp analytical abilities with proven designskills, able to think critically of the current system in terms of growth andstability
• Data modeling experience in both Relational and NoSQL databases
• Continuously refactor applications to ensure high-quality design
• Ability to plan, prioritize, estimate and execute releases with good degree ofpredictability
• Ability to scope, review and refine user stories for technical completeness and toalleviate dependency risks
• Passion for learning new things, solving challenging problems
• Ability to get stuff done!
