Job summary

Jobtailor in Chennai is seeking a Senior Cloud/SRE Engineer to design, implement and manage complex cloud infrastructure at scale. You will automate, monitor, and optimize operations while guiding incident management and cross-team collaboration.

You will work with Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica, dbt, Looker, Power BI, Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and related tools to deliver reliable cloud services and modern data capabilities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or related discipline; equivalent experience accepted.
• Proven site reliability engineering experience in production.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica, dbt, BigQuery, Looker and/or Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, operate, monitor, automate, test, and deliver complex cloud infrastructure projects.
• Provide technical guidance for cloud infra solutions in production environments.
• Lead interactions with Global Customer Care for escalations.
• Transition legacy systems to cloud-native data stack with modern tools.

Job description

• Design, implement, operate, monitor, automate, test, and deliver complex cloud infrastructure projects
• Provide technical guidance and expertise for cloud infrastructure solutions in production environments
• Lead interactions with Global Customer Care teams in managing critical escalations
• Transition legacy systems to a cloud-native, modern data stack using Informatica, Airflow, Postgres, Snowflake, dbt, BigQuery, Looker, CI/CD, Git, Databricks, Power BI, Datadog, and Grafana
• Deploy, upgrade, and support applications, services, and operating systems
• Apply software engineering principles to operational challenges, focusing on automation, self-healing, and monitoring
• Deliver customer excellence and meet service-level agreements
• Translate architectural, technical, and feature changes into operational plans
• Maintain feedback loops with development and operations teams
• Deliver cloud reference architectures for enterprise modernization and new capabilities
• Develop and manage cloud automation using orchestration capabilities, scripting languages, and APIs
• Participate in an on-call rotation, investigate incidents, and provide production root-cause analysis
• Troubleshoot cloud-platform issues, document resolutions, and coach junior employees
• Design, implement, and manage reporting solutions supporting cloud infrastructure
• Optimize cloud resources for cost effectiveness and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend tools and services
• Support scalable and secure cloud environments using industry best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s/Master's degree in Engineering with specialization in Computer Science or related discipline or demonstrated equivalent experience
• Prior experience in a site reliability engineering role
• Deep, hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica, dbt, BigQuery, Looker and/or Power BI
• 10+ years of experience with deployment and monitoring of distributed systems, infrastructure and deployment of Cloud Services, and public cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure or AWS
• Working with VMware ESXi is considered an asset
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and observability tooling such as Logstash, Datadog, and Grafana
• Strong knowledge of system design to manage operational and reliability trade-offs
• Extensive experience developing in a scripting language, including Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, or Python
• Practical experience building and managing Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
• Practical experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible
• Practical experience with CI/CD solutions including Git, GitOps, and Argo CD
• Practical experience with containers and orchestrators including Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm
• Practical experience with system monitoring and centralized logging platforms including Datadog, Prometheus, and ELK
• In-depth communication and documentation skills
