Job summary

onsemi Bangalore is seeking an Analog IC Design Engineer with PLL expertise to architect, simulate, and validate high‑speed analog blocks for automotive Ethernet/Serdes in a fast‑paced mixed‑signal SoC team.

The role involves PLL implementation, chip‑level integration, and silicon validation, with emphasis on noise, power, and area optimization within a global semiconductor leader.

Qualifications

  • Must have a higher degree in electrical engineering and 6–10+ years of IC design experience.
  • Extensive PLL design experience from scratch with at least one tape-out and silicon success.
  • Strong knowledge of phase noise, jitter, and loop design optimization.
  • Experience with VCO design (LC VCOs) and analog block integration in SoC.
  • Proficient in C/Matlab/VerilogA modeling and device physics fundamentals.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills in an automotive/industrial context.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in feasibility studies and architecture definitions for new products.
  • Generate detailed specs and verification plans for analog blocks, especially PLL.
  • Develop Matlab and VerilogA models of analog PLL blocks.
  • Design low-power, high-speed analog systems and supervise layout.
  • Integrate analog blocks into complex mixed-signal SoCs and run MS simulations.
  • Support silicon evaluation and lab characterization of blocks.
  • Collaborate with production test teams to define test plans and DFT features.
  • Contribute to design methodology and flow improvements.

The Role

As part of the Sensor Interface Division, the Design Team in Bangalore develops and brings to production low-power high speed mixed-signal ICs for automotive Ethernet and automotive serdes. We are looking to expand our design team with an Analog IC Design Engineerwith PLL design experience. You will architect, specify and implement PLL and other sub systems and help in PLL chip-level integration, chip-level simulations and silicon validation for the above mentioned high speed communication chips.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Participate in feasibility studies and architecture definitions of new products.
  • Generate detailed specifications and verification plans for analog blocks and systems especially PLL
  • Develop Matlab & Verilog A models of analog blocks related to PLL.
  • Develop low‑power high speed analog systems Design, verification & Layout supervision.
  • Integrate analog blocks into complex mixed‑signals System-on-Chip (SoC) designs.
  • Perform top‑level Mixed‑Signal simulations.
  • Silicon Evaluation and characterization of designed blocks in the lab.
  • Support the production test development and qualification.
  • Contribute to design methodology and design flow improvements.
Qualifications

What You’ll Need

  • Must have a BSEE, MSEE or Ph.D. with at least 6-10 + years of IC design work experience
  • Extensive experience in high performance complete PLL design from scratch is required with at least 1 tape out & silicon success.
  • Experience in designing low phase noise/jitter integer PLLs, fractional-N synthesizers.
  • Good knowledge of band gaps, bias, opamps, LDOs, feedback and compensation techniques.
  • Experience in VCO design including but not limited to LC VCOs.
  • Must have Strong knowledge of loop design to optimize for phase noise/jitter, lock time, reference spur, area, power.
  • Good knowledge of low noise design techniques.
  • Good knowledge of high precision techniques in presence of device mismatch
  • Experience in C/Matlab/VerilogA modeling
  • Understand device physics and demonstrated ability to apply that to optimize noise, power, area, and frequency of PLL blocks.
  • System knowledge of Automotive serdes/ethernet and its link budget analysis will be added advantage
  • Good working experience in using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc. to validate analog designs.
  • Experience in working with production test engineers to firm up test plans and design for testability details.
  • Experience with IP integration and Mixed‑Signal IC verification
  • Good English written and verbal communication skills.
