Job summary

Palo Alto Networks is seeking an experienced Staff IT Software Engineer in Bengaluru, India. You will design, build, and support enterprise-grade software solutions, applying AI-first engineering practices from day one.

Collaborate with Product, Sales, and HR to translate business needs into scalable IT systems. You’ll own full lifecycle from architecture to deployment, and work with tools like Cursor and Claude while ensuring security and compliance in a fast-moving, AI-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of hands-on software engineering experience with AI
• Proficiency in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript or Java, Go, or similar
• Experience with LLMs, AI/ML, and integrating apps with third-party hosted systems
• Familiarity with cloud environments (GCP, AWS or Azure) and containerized development (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, observability platforms, and infrastructure-as-code
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, willingness to learn and experiment

Your Career

As an Staff IT Software Engineer, you’ll design, build, and support enterprise-grade software solutions that power Palo Alto Network’s teams and operations. You will transform complex business needs into scalable, secure, and reliable systems – leveraging AI-first engineering practices from day one. You will work closely with Product Managers and business stakeholders across functions like Sales, Global Customer Support, R&D, Finance, and People (HR). You’ll own the full project lifecycle from building an architecture, Design and Development through deployment, observability, and continuous improvement ensuring IT systems are ready for the AI-driven future.

Responsibilities

Partner with Product Managers and business stakeholders to translate enterprise requirements into technical solutions that are scalable, secure, and aligned to strategic goals.

Apply AI first engineering capabilities including prompt engineering, AI-assisted coding, and agentic workflows to accelerate development, testing, and operational support.

Design and implement software solutions across IT platforms, using modern architectures and AI tools to optimize performance and reliability.

Develop maintainable, high-quality code, using AI-augmented coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Cody) while validating outputs for security and compliance.

Debug and resolve system issues using structured troubleshooting and AI-assisted diagnostics to reduce downtime and improve user experience.

Participate in rigorous code reviews, including evaluation of AI-generated code, ensuring quality, security, and adherence to IT coding standards.

Contribute to automation of testing, deployment, and monitoring processes in a DevOps/CI-CD environment.

Continuously explore and integrate emerging technologies, frameworks, and methods to keep IT systems future-ready.

Qualifications

7-10 years of hands-on software engineering experience using core First Principles AI.

Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Go, or similar).

Data Interpretation & Quantitative Analytics AI Fluency in understanding of LLMs, MCP, Infrastructure requirements, IDEs like Claude, Cursor to generate the code, etc.

SDLC understanding, DevOps/DevSecOps foundations, Version control (Git etc.)

Understanding of software development lifecycle, DevOps principles, and version control.

Enthusiasm for using AI tools, including Vibe coding (with tools like Cursor or Claude) and a growth mindset around learning and experimentation.

Strong problem-solving and communication skills; a willingness to ask questions and work openly with others independently.

A bias toward action and a desire to work in a fast-moving, forward-looking team.

Must Have Qualifications

Experience with large language models (LLMs), building AI agents or AI/ML, integrating custom applications with 3rd party hosted systems (ex: SAP, SFDC, Workday, etc).

Familiarity with cloud environments (GCP, AWS or Azure) and containerized development (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

Exposure to enterprise SaaS platforms such as Salesforce, SAP, or ServiceNow.

Experience with modern developer tools such as CI/CD pipelines, observability platforms, and infrastructure-as-code.
