Job summary

Couchbase is seeking a Senior Technical Writer (AI) to redefine how developer-facing documentation is created by integrating Generative AI into the documentation workflow across Couchbase products.

This is a developer-centric role for someone who can combine deep technical knowledge with AI-driven workflows—directing AI tools to produce draft content, verifying output for technical accuracy, and creating high-quality documentation. Bengaluru-based and collaboration with Eng/PM.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience writing high-quality developer documentation, preferably in a database or enterprise software domain.
• 3+ years of experience in an engineering, cloud ops, or technical role with heavy involvement in AI technologies.
• Practical experience writing, building, or documenting agentic applications and related frameworks.
• Docs-as-Code workflows, Git/GitHub, and static site generators (Antora, MkDocs, Mintlify, Hugo, or Nginx).
• Hands-on proficiency in Python plus working knowledge of at least one other modern programming language (e.g., C#, C++, C, Java, Rust, or Ruby).
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and developer environments (VSCode, Git).
• Mindset: Proactive, Curious, Quality-Driven.

Responsibilities

• AI & Core Product Documentation: Own end-to-end developer documentation for AI capabilities, including AI Services, Vector Indexes, Search, and agentic applications.
• GenAI Workflow Integration: Champion the responsible use of GenAI tools to scale documentation velocity and elevate quality while maintaining strict technical oversight and accuracy.
• Team Enablement & Mentorship: Guide and upskill the technical writing team on GEO strategies, GenAI tools, static site integrations, and automated writing workflows.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, and Cloud Ops teams to understand user requirements, translate architecture into guides, and manage assets.
• SDK & API Documentation: Author clear, developer-focused API documentation and code samples across modern programming languages.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly technical Senior Technical Writer (AI) to join our documentation team in Bangalore. In this role, you will redefine how developer‑facing technical documentation is created by integrating Generative AI directly into the documentation workflow across all Couchbase products.

This is a developer‑centric role for someone who can combine deep technical knowledge with AI‑driven workflows—directing AI tools to produce draft content, verifying output for technical accuracy, and creating clear, high‑quality documentation. You will work closely with Engineering and Product Management teams to understand core product capabilities, while also serving as an internal advocate and guide to help the broader writing team adopt GenAI and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) practices.

Key Responsibilities

AI & Core Product Documentation: Own end-to-end developer documentation for AI capabilities, including AI Services, Vector Indexes, Search, and agentic applications.

GenAI Workflow Integration: Champion the responsible use of GenAI tools to scale documentation velocity and elevate quality while maintaining strict technical oversight and accuracy.

Requirements & Experience

Agentic Applications: Practical experience writing, building, or documenting agentic applications and related frameworks.

Docs-as-Code & Infrastructure: Deep expertise in Docs-as-Code workflows, Git/GitHub, and static site generators (such as Antora, MkDocs, Mintlify, Hugo, or Nginx).

Programming Proficiency: Hands‑on proficiency in Python plus working knowledge of at least one other modern programming language (e.g., C#, C++, C, Java, Rust, or Ruby).

Cloud & Dev Tools: Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and developer environments (VSCode, Git).
