Job summary

AT&T in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to own 3GPP 5G SA Core automation and drive 24x7 lab certification. You will collaborate in sprint planning, design discussions, and Jira-based delivery tracking, while championing the ANT platform in lab and production environments.

Role demands strong Python, RegEx, Kubernetes, Azure, and CI/CD skills, plus Azure DevOps expertise and robust networking knowledge. Offshore collaboration with US stakeholders will be routine.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering/Telecom or related field.
• Expert-level experience with 3GPP Mobile Packet Core architecture, 5G SA NFs and call flows.
• Hands-on experience with TCP/IP, HTTP2, UDP/QUIC, SSL/TLS encryption, and related transport/networking fundamentals.
• Strong Linux, NAT/PAT, Ethernet, VLAN, and BGP networking knowledge.
• Expert-level experience troubleshooting mobility infrastructure in telecom environments.
• Experience with Azure and Azure DevOps pipelines, YAML-based pipelines using Azure CLI, and managing ADO resources.
• Understanding of Azure Key Vault, ARM endpoints, and service principals.
• Experience with ARM templates and Bicep for Azure deployments.
• Experience with RegEx (3+ years) and CI/CD practices.
• Proficiency in Python and object-oriented scripting for automation.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Experience in Agile testing methodologies.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop technical expertise with 3GPP 5G SA Core and actively drive our 24x7 lab certification objective.
• Participate in Sprint Planning and design discussions with the development team to ensure that automation objectives are met.
• Effectively utilize project management tools such as Jira to track requirements, design, and deliveries of the project.
• Develop expertise in the Automated Network Testing (ANT) platform and become an advocate for its use in both a lab and production environment.
• Improve productivity for the overall team by proposing tools or processes that optimize our quality and rate of delivery.
• Understand the business objectives of our team, organization, business unit, and company.
• Create End-to-End (E2) test cases and post-validation templates using ANT.
• Create Command-Line-Interface (CLI) test case template health checks using ANT and regular expressions.
• Collaborate with platform teams, testers and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot automation, tooling and mobility infrastructure networks.
• Participate in script lifecycle management including development, delivery, deployment, updates, defect management.

Job Qualifications / Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
• Expert-level experience with 3GPP Mobile Packet Core architecture, interfaces, and call flows, with specific focus on 5G SA NFs and call flow.
• Hands‑on experience with TCP/IP, HTTP2, UDP/QUIC, SSL/TLS encryption, and related transport/networking fundamentals.
• Strong understanding of Linux, firewall concepts (including NAT/PAT), and networking/routing technologies such as Ethernet, VLAN, and BGP.
• Expert‑level experience troubleshooting mobility infrastructure and services in telecom environments.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Azure and Azure DevOps (ADO), including: building ADO pipelines from the ground up, especially YAML‑based pipelines using Azure CLI (az cli) commands within ADO pipelines to interact with Azure resources understanding the role and limitations of ADO agents working with ADO Repos, including branching and tagging strategies across environments.
• Understanding of Azure Key Vault, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), including endpoints and service principals.
• Experience with Bicep and ARM templates for Azure resource deployment, with emphasis on parameterized infrastructure definitions.
• Experience with Azure Operator Service Manager (AOSM).
• Proficiency in Python development.
• 3+ years of experience with Regular Expressions (RegEx).
• 3+ years of experience with Kubernetes, Azure, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD.
• Hands‑on experience developing and maintaining automation scripts using object‑oriented programming principles.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration, and reporting skills.
• Ability to clearly articulate concepts, solutions, and standards to team members with varying levels of technical expertise.
• Experience working in Agile environments, including testing methodologies and best practices.
• Strong team‑oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively and deliver quality results on time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Robot Framework, Selenium, JavaScript, JSON, and YAML.
• Working knowledge of telecom automation and cloud‑native operational tooling.
• Experience maintaining code or project artifacts in GitHub or similar source control platforms; public portfolio is a plus.
• Exposure to test automation frameworks and CI/CD‑integrated validation practices.
• Strong interest in learning and adopting new tools and technologies.
• Demonstrated intercultural communication skills and ability to work effectively across global teams.
• Experience working in fast‑paced, cross‑functional engineering environments supporting large‑scale telecom systems.
• Agentic AI software development and triage.
• Telemetry for Fault/Performance Monitoring and tracing.

Additional Job Information

This is an offshore role that requires daily collaboration with U.S. stakeholders, including overlapping work hours to ensure effective partnership and meet business needs.
