Amazon in Karnataka, India is seeking a Sr Software Development Engineer for Selection Monitoring to help scale data acquisition systems and AI-driven solutions. You will own end-to-end design and delivery across large distributed systems.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with senior leaders, and drive best practices in SDLC, security, and performance while solving challenging problems at global scale.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• 7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.

• Work with Org leadership, Principal Engineers to define and drive the technical and architectural vision of Selection Monitoring’s mission-critical data acquisition systems.
• Lead the design and development of integrations with other internal systems and 3rd Party solutions for web-content fetching at scale.
• Lead the design and development of solutions for efficient storage and vending of products and related information.
• Design and development Agentic AI solutions for automating complex web interactions, issue triaging, and recoveries.
• Lead and mentor engineers, and drive best practices using AI driven SDLC around design, coding, testability, and security.

Sr Software Development Engineer, Selection Monitoring

Amazon’s Selection Monitoring team is responsible for making the biggest catalog on the planet even bigger. Our systems process billions of products from millions of sources to algorithmically find products not already sold on Amazon and programmatically add them to the Amazon catalog. We apply parallel processing, AI/GenAI, machine learning and deep learning algorithms to evaluate products and brands in order to identify and prioritize products and brands to be added to Amazon’s catalog. The datasets produced by our team are used by teams across Amazon to improve: product information, search and discoverability, pricing, and delivery experience. Our work involves building state-of-the-art Information Retrieval (IR) systems to mine the web and automatically create structured entities from un-structure/semi-structured data. We constantly stretch the boundaries of large scale distributed systems, Elastic Computing, Big Data, Artificial intelligence and SOA technologies to tackle challenges at Amazon’s global scale.

We are looking for SDEs with good technical knowledge, established background in engineering large scale software systems, and passion for solving challenging problems. The role demands a high-performing and flexible candidate who can take responsibility for success of the system and drive solutions from design to coding, testing, and deployment, to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

The Sr. SDE on this team will be playing a key role in solving complex problems and building innovative solutions to drive comprehensive selection on Amazon platform. Candidate needs to have a high sense of ownership, ability to develop end to end solutions and improve customer experience. This role would expose you to solving problems of scale in the areas of distributed systems of cloud-scale, large scale data processing, Agentic AI.
