Qualifications

• 5-8+ years of software development experience, with 4+ years on the ServiceNow platform.
• Demonstrated ownership of platform architecture: scoped apps vs. global scope, ACLs, table hierarchy, GlideRecord, and scalable integration patterns.
• Expert level proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and server-side ServiceNow scripting.
• Highly skilled in building and owning REST integrations from ServiceNow to external SaaS platforms.
• Experience in building production quality Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, and Now Assist.
• Experience designing MCP servers or API-layer connectors that expose platform capabilities to AI agents and tooling.
• Uses AI-assisted development as a standard part of daily workflow and sets the bar for a team.
• Hands on experience with Git or equivalent source control in a team development workflow.
• ServiceNow CSA required; CAD and CIS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take the lead on the most complex and challenging applications and integrations across HRSD, ITSM, and connected systems; set the scoped-app architecture and coding standards the team reuses.
• Design and build complex server-side and client-side logic; architect REST/SOAP integrations using event-driven patterns.
• Act as an expert in multiple subdomains owned by your team; influence architecture and ensure testability, resiliency, and observability.
• Design and own MCP servers and connectors that expose ServiceNow capabilities to AI agents and tooling.
• Establish use of AI-assisted IDEs and coding agents; raise delivery speed and code quality across the team.
• Own the testing strategy: ATF coverage, AI-assisted test generation, and regression prevention; enforce hygiene.
• Set the standard for root cause analysis, dashboards, alarms, and runbooks; lead debugging of production issues.
• Coordinate projects: designs, estimates, reviews, release and upgrade planning including Now Assist.
• Mentor developers and integrate them into team culture and process.
• Communicate tradeoffs clearly to technical and non-technical staff.

About the role

You are a key contributor to the team, leading the way on the most important development initiatives, designs, and operational events across ServiceNow platform. You habitually author effective architectures, deliver critical bodies of code, and shepherd the quality of the team's outputs. You are an expert on your team's systems and business domain, and you understand how they fit into the larger cross‑team architecture. You contribute to projects that cut across teams and connected systems, and you are relied upon to resolve critical operational incidents, meet essential deadlines, and propose effective designs. Your leadership is felt beyond your immediate team, and you are comfortable working with ambiguity. You mentor the other engineers on your team, setting the bar for engineering excellence and growing the capabilities of the team.

Responsibilities

• Take the lead on the most complex and challenging applications and integrations across HRSD, ITSM, and connected systems (e.g. Workday, Okta, Glean, custom APIs); set the scoped‑app architecture and coding standards the team reuses
• Design and build complex server‑side and client‑side logic: Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Flow Designer actions, and IntegrationHub; architect REST/SOAP integrations using event‑driven, fault‑tolerant patterns
• Act as an expert in multiple subdomains owned by your team; influence and shape platform architecture, working closely with Principal and other Senior Engineers, and treat testability, resiliency, and observability as first‑order concerns
• Design and own MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers and connectors that expose ServiceNow capabilities to AI agents and internal tooling; treat AI enablement as first‑class platform work
• Establish how the team uses and adopts AI‑assisted IDEs and coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot); raise delivery speed and code quality across the team/org, not just your own output
• Own the testing strategy: ATF coverage, AI‑assisted test generation, and regression prevention; enforce architecture and change hygiene through dev, test, and prod pipelines
• Set the standard for root cause analysis, dashboards, metrics, alarms, and runbooks; lead structured debugging of the most difficult production issues and ensure they do not recur
• Act as a focal point for projects: coordinating deliverables, writing designs, ensuring accurate estimates, and reviewing artifacts; lead release and upgrade technical planning, including Now Assist
• Mentor developers, improving their craft and integrating them into team culture and process
• Communicate consistently with technical and non‑technical staff, documenting build/buy and design tradeoffs and their rationale

This role has been categorized as an Office position. “Office” employees regularly work at the Zillow India office for approximately 80 to 100 percent of their time each month. Employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Zillow has not defined a reasonable distance, and expects employees will use judgment in determining this for themselves and understand the implications re: time commitment and cost of daily commute. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role are eligible for incentive compensation subject to applicable laws and relevant Zillow policies. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.
