Job summary

Black Duck Software, Inc. is seeking a Senior Server Engineer to design, implement, and support IT infrastructure for the global organization.

The role partners with IT teams to ensure availability, performance, and security of services; participates in migrations, upgrades, integrations, and deployments. Based in Bengaluru with a hybrid work model (minimum 3 days in office per week), you will manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Proxmox, Hyper‑V, OpenStack, KVM), Windows and Linux servers,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in enterprise infrastructure, systems engineering, or related roles.
• Strong experience with Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms including VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V, OpenStack, and KVM.
• Experience managing enterprise server hardware and data center infrastructure.
• Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage and backup/recovery solutions.
• Experience with AWS and Azure cloud services.
• Proficient in automation and IaC using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, and Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain, and optimize enterprise infrastructure platforms including servers, virtualization, storage, and cloud-hosted services.
• Support lifecycle management of server hardware and infrastructure, including deployment, upgrades, patching, and capacity planning.
• Administer and optimize virtualization platforms such as VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V, OpenStack, and KVM.
• Manage and support enterprise storage solutions including SAN/NAS, replication, and performance tuning.
• Implement and support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery to ensure business continuity.
• Administer Windows and Linux server environments with patching, hardening, and automation.
• Monitor performance, capacity, and reliability; identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, and Python.
• Participate in platform deployments, migrations, upgrades, and cloud adoption projects.
• Collaborate with various teams and contribute to documentation and best practices.

Position Summary

The Senior Server Engineer is part of a core team that designs, implements, and supports IT infrastructure solutions for the global organization. The role partners with other IT teams to support the availability, performance, and security of corporate IT systems and services; participates in migrations, upgrades, integrations, and deployments; and provides technical expertise and operational support to engineers and stakeholders.

Job location: Black Duck Software, Bangalore (Near Dairy Circle, Opp to Christ University)

Work mode : Hybrid (Minimum 3 Days Work from office in a week)

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain, and optimize enterprise infrastructure platforms including physical servers, virtualization, storage, backup, and cloud-hosted services.
• Support the lifecycle management of server hardware and infrastructure platforms, including deployment, upgrades, patching, capacity planning, and decommissioning activities.
• Administer and optimize virtualization platforms including VMware, Proxmox, Hyper‑V, OpenStack, KVM, or equivalent technologies.
• Manage and support enterprise storage solutions including SAN, NAS, replication, performance optimization, and capacity management.
• Implement and support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity and data protection objectives are met.
• Administer and support Windows and Linux server environments, including system hardening, patching, automation, performance tuning, and operational support.
• Monitor infrastructure performance, capacity, availability, and reliability while identifying opportunities for operational improvements.
• Develop and maintain automation and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using technologies such as Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, Python, or similar tools.
• Participate in infrastructure projects including platform deployments, migrations, upgrades, modernization initiatives, and cloud adoption efforts.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, security, and application teams while contributing to technical documentation, standards, and best practices.
• Participation in a rotating on-call schedule to support critical network operations outside of business hours.
• Other tasks and activities as assigned.

Required Education/Experience & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in enterprise infrastructure, systems engineering, platform engineering, or systems administration within complex IT environments.
• Strong experience administering enterprise Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Hands‑on experience with enterprise virtualization technologies including VMware, Proxmox, Hyper‑V, OpenStack, KVM, or equivalent platforms.
• Experience managing enterprise server hardware and data center infrastructure platforms.
• Knowledge of enterprise storage technologies including SAN, NAS, replication, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
• Experience implementing and administering backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms and services including AWS and Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with automation, scripting, and Infrastructure-as-Code using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and successfully deliver infrastructure projects in a collaborative team environment.
