Job summary

NTT DATA, Inc. is seeking a Senior QA Engineer for our Chennai, Tamil Nadu location.

The role focuses on functional, integration, and end-to-end testing within procurement and banking domains, with extensive collaboration across Developers, BAs, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and QA teams. You will lead test design and execution, maintain traceability from User Stories to defects, and support UAT activities while proactively identifying quality risks and impediments in a dynamic project

Qualifications

• Analyze User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, and documentation to identify test scenarios and gaps.
• Design, document, and execute functional, integration, end-to-end, smoke and regression tests.
• Validate STEP 2.0 business processes across modules, roles and workflows.
• Log, document, and track defects in Azure DevOps with steps and evidence.
• Maintain end-to-end traceability from User Stories to Bugs.
• Identify quality risks and blockers early and raise them promptly.
• Collaborate with Developers, BAs, Product Owners, Scrum Masters and QA teams.
• Support UAT scenarios and coordinate with business users for sign-off.
• Strong SQL, API, logs knowledge to support defect investigation.

We are currently seeking a Sr. QA Engineer to join our team in Chennai, Tamil Nādu (IN-TN), India (IN).

Role - Senior QA Engineer

• Specialization - Functional QA / Enterprise Application Testing / Procurement & Banking
• Requirements -
• Requirement Analysis – Analyze User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, and functional documentation to identify test scenarios, dependencies, inconsistencies, and requirement gaps.
• Test Design & Execution – Design, document, maintain, and execute functional, integration, end-to-end, smoke, and regression test cases.
• Business Process Validation – Validate STEP 2.0 business processes across modules, integrations, roles, permissions, business rules, and workflow configurations.
• Defect Management – Log, document, investigate, and track defects in Azure DevOps with reproducible steps, expected/actual results, supporting evidence, and functional context.
• Regression & Defect Retesting – Perform defect retesting and regression testing while assessing potential downstream impacts across related functionalities.
• Requirements Traceability – Maintain end-to-end traceability between User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, Test Cases, Test Executions, and Bugs.
• Proactively identify, communicate, and elevate quality risks, blockers, dependencies, and impediments impacting testing or delivery timelines.
• Working closely with Developers, Business Analysts, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, QA teams, and business stakeholders to resolve issues and facilitate delivery.
• Provide timely updates on test execution, defects, quality risks, blockers, dependencies, and overall QA progress during Agile ceremonies.
• Participate in UAT activities including scenario preparation, business workflow validation, defect support, and coordination with business users.
• Working autonomously and proactively to ensure continuity and quality of QA activities in a complex and continuously changing project environment.
• Requirements -
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Overall 10+ years of IT industry experice and minimum 6+ years of relevant Software Quality Assurance experience, preferably in a Senior QA Engineer / Senior Functional Test Analyst capacity.
• Good hands-on experience in functional, integration, regression, smoke, and end-to-end testing.
• Test Management – Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps Boards and Test Plans for requirements, test case management, execution, defect tracking, and traceability.
• Domain – Experience in Procurement and/or Banking/Financial Services projects.
• Technical Testing – Experience validating web applications, system integrations, APIs, business rules, workflows, and role-based access controls.
• Working knowledge of SQL, APIs, logs, and diagnostic techniques to support defect investigation and root-cause analysis.
• Ability to understand complex enterprise processes and analyze dependencies across multiple functionalities and modules.
• Good experience working within Agile/Scrum environments and distributed cross-functional teams.
• Ability to independently manage QA activities, competing priorities, changing requirements, and delivery commitments with minimal supervision.

• English proficiency, includes verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical decisions and trade-offs clearly.
