Job summary

Northstar Quant is seeking an experienced Python Backend Engineer to design high-performance, scalable backend systems for algorithmic trading in Mumbai. The role focuses on exchange integrations, order management optimization, and low-latency execution, with strong emphasis on FastAPI and optional Golang.

You will collaborate with quant researchers and business teams to implement trading logic, work on real-time monitoring, and ensure reliable, secure operations in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Python backend development experience in real-time systems.
• Experience designing and integrating APIs (REST, WebSockets, FIX).
• Proficient in asynchronous programming and high-concurrency apps.
• Strong knowledge of databases (SQL/NoSQL) and time-series stores.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend systems for real-time trading applications.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of database systems (MySQL,PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, time-series databases).
• Proficiency in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS).
• Experience with message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka) for real-time data processing.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack) for system observability.
• Experience with scalable system design, microservices, and distributed architectures.

Good To Have Qualifications

• Experience with real-time data processing and execution.
• Experience developing backtesting engines capable of processing millions of events per second.
• Knowledge of quantitative trading strategies and algorithmic trading infrastructure.
• Contributions to open-source backend or data engineering projects.
