Job summary

Mahindra And Mahindra Ltd. in Mumbai seeks a Senior Costing Engineer to lead Material Costing for Powertrain systems. You will drive cross-functional collaboration, mentor the team, and push design-to-cost initiatives across engine, transmission, and hybrid components.

The role requires 12–15 years in automotive costing with hands-on experience in ICE and hybrid systems costing, and strong leadership to support procurement, design, and finance functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Automobile or Production Engineering.
• 12–15 years of experience in automotive costing and cost optimization.
• Proven ability to lead teams and drive cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and leadership to the team aligned with business goals.
• Lead cost reduction through Design To Cost and value engineering across Powertrain.
• Oversee costing of ICE engine, transmission and hybrid components.
• Support business case preparation and monitor material cost for Powertrain systems.
• Collaborate with CFT and ensure cost approvals for change events.
• Mentor and develop team members for growth and succession planning.

• Lead Design To Cost with stakeholders and Identify areas of cost reduction through design iteration and assist the design team in achieving cost targets
• Hands on Experience on Costing of ICE Engine and Transmisson Components,
• Hands on Experience on Costing of EPT/Hybrid Systems Components.
• Support Business case preparation, Monitoring & tracking for Material Cost of Powertrain systems (Engine,Aftertreatment System, Transmission)
• Evaluating Material Cost at System/Part level at different stage of Development of Product from Business case to SOP for Engine, After treatment System and transmission.
• Support Internal systems to facilitate necessary cost approvals due to all change events wrt Cost
• Facilitate internal systems to secure necessary cost approvals due to any cost-associated changes.
• Work closely with CFT to obtain desired cost inputs and ensure the accuracy of SBC
• Provide Visibility to senior leadership and other stakeholders on Material cost and highlight potential risk areas along with mitigation strategy.

Monitor industry trends and competitive benchmarking to inform strategic decisions.
