Job summary

Navitas Semiconductor in Maharashtra, India, is seeking a senior GaN product engineer to own day-to-day execution of NPI and sustaining activities from concept through formal release. Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or BS with significant power semiconductor experience.
  • 8+ years in semiconductor product engineering, NPI, qualification or sustaining of power devices.
  • Hands-on GaN power devices experience and understanding of device physics.
  • Experience with APQP, NPI processes, wafer probe, and data-driven decision making.
  • Strong execution, cross-functional communication and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day execution of GaN product engineering and new product development programs from concept through release using APQP.
  • Develop detailed program plans with milestones, deliverables, and release criteria.
  • Track execution, identify risks, and drive mitigation with cross-functional owners.
  • Lead NPI activities from development to production release including characterization and reliability evaluation.
  • Characterize GaN devices including breakdown voltage, leakage, switching and gate drive behavior.
  • Support evaluation and production release of GaN technologies including 650 V and 100 V platforms.
  • Drive datasheet inputs, reliability summaries and product release documentation.
  • Mentor product engineering and sustain released products through lifecycle.

Job description

  • Own day-to-day execution of assigned GaN product engineering and new product development programs from concept through formal product release using the APQP framework and disciplined milestone execution.
  • Develop and maintain detailed program plans including scope, milestones, deliverables, ownership, dependencies, qualification gates, datasheet inputs, test readiness, and release criteria.
  • Track execution versus plan and proactively identify schedule, yield, qualification, test, reliability, manufacturing, and product readiness risks; drive risk mitigation with cross-functional owners.
  • Lead product engineering activities supporting NPI from development through production release, including electrical characterization, parametric analysis, yield monitoring, reliability evaluation, test limit development, and process window definition.
  • Perform and guide characterization of GaN power devices including breakdown voltage, leakage, dynamic RDS(on), switching performance, gate drive behavior, switching loss, and application-relevant performance metrics.
  • Support evaluation, qualification, and production release of GaN technologies including 650 V GaN, 100 V GaN, and related wide bandgap power device platforms.
  • Drive definition of CP, FT, QC, characterization with technology and test engineering,
  • Execute qualification plans and review reliability data to ensure product robustness, datasheet alignment, customer readiness, and release readiness.
  • Drive creation and review of preliminary datasheets, final datasheet inputs, characterization reports, reliability summaries, and supporting product release documentation.
  • Translate device, test, reliability, and manufacturing behavior into actionable guidance for applications, systems, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to product engineering and NPI engineers and support transition of released products to sustaining teams.
  • Own sustaining engineering activities for released products, including yield monitoring, test and manufacturing issues, reliability concerns, customer returns, corrective actions, and product change management.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Physics, Power Electronics, or related field; BS with significant relevant power semiconductor experience may be considered.
  • 8+ years of semiconductor industry experience including product engineering, NPI, qualification, production ramp, or sustaining of power semiconductor devices.
  • Hands‑on experience with GaN power devices, GaN HEMTs, or related wide bandgap semiconductor technologies.
  • Strong understanding of power semiconductor device physics, switching behavior, reliability mechanisms, and manufacturing sensitivities.
  • Hands‑on laboratory experience with electrical characterization of power devices, including high‑voltage parametric testing, dynamic RDS(on), double‑pulse testing, and switching loss measurement.
  • Experience supporting product qualification, reliability data review, datasheet validation, test limit development, and formal product release readiness.
  • Working knowledge of APQP, semiconductor NPI processes, wafer probe, final test, quality control, failure analysis, yield management, and risk‑based decision making.
  • Strong technical execution, program management, data‑driven problem‑solving, cross‑functional communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience productizing high‑voltage GaN HEMTs
  • Experience interfacing with wafer fabrication, OSAT, backend manufacturing, test, reliability, applications, and customer‑facing technical teams.
  • Familiarity with application‑level validation, gate‑drive optimization, switching characterization platforms, and power converter operating conditions.
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring product engineering, NPI, characterization, qualification, or sustaining engineering teams.
