Job summary

Coupa Software, Inc. is seeking a Sr Lead Network Development Engineer to architect, deploy, and automate network solutions for a massive-scale cloud platform.

You will drive an automation-first approach, manage network infrastructure as code, and provide technical leadership across the Engineering organization. You will own projects end-to-end, collaborate with teams across AWS/Azure/GCP environments, and contribute to Coupa's mission of scalable, reliable network services for a global SaaS

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent; 10+ years professional experience.
• Expert in Firewall, VPN, DNS, BGP and Public Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) networking.
• Production Kubernetes experience and CNIs; DNS within a cluster.
• Proficiency in Golang, Python, Java or Ruby.
• IaC tooling with Terraform and CloudFormation; Chef/Ansible/Spacelift exposure.
• Strong ownership, accountability and problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, automate and support network solutions in massive-scale cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Provide network support for Kubernetes platforms and workloads in public clouds.
• Lead the development roadmap for scalable network infrastructure as code.
• Contribute to design reviews and mentor the Engineering organization.
• Advance network performance, capacity and availability monitoring tools.
• Collaborate across teams to onboard new network development engineers and set direction.
• Stay current with new network technologies and participate in industry events.
• Participate in on-call rotations as required.

What You'll Do

• Design, deploy, automate and support network solutions in a massive-scale public cloud environment (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Experience with VM or container-based (Palo Alto Network Firewall, Fortinet, CheckPoint), and Cloud Native (AWS/Azure/GCP) Firewall solutions.
• Have a comprehensive knowledge of networks and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, and TLS
• Provide network support for Kubernetes platforms and workloads in major public cloud providers
• Develop roadmaps using established public cloud design standards
• Participate in design reviews and provide network support and leadership to the Engineering organization
• Bring a development mindset in areas such as managing network infrastructure as code, elimination of toil and a strong sense of accountability and service ownership
• Evaluate, specify, implement and support network performance, capacity and availability monitoring tools
• Help to grow the global network function, onboarding new network development engineers and providing technical leadership and setting the team direction
• Stay up to date with the latest developments in network infrastructure, networking with peers and attending industry events
• Participate in an on-call rotation as required
• Occasional travel as needed to perform the job function

What You Will Bring to Coupa

• Has a degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 10+ years professional experience, some of which is in an enterprise SaaS organization
• Is an expert in Firewall, VPN, DNS, BGP, and Public Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) network constructs (eg VPC, Hybrid routing, security groups, etc)
• Experience managing and maintaining a production-facing Kubernetes environment
• Is an expert in Kubernetes networking and CNI implementations. Direct experience supporting multiple CNIs is a plus.
• Deep understanding of various Ingress or Gateway controller implementations, service discovery and DNS within a cluster, and NetworkPolicy functionality
• Has operated in both data center and cloud environments
• Experience managing and supporting multiple Linux distributions
• Can code using Golang, Python, Java, Ruby or equivalent languages
• Is familiar with deploying cloud network infrastructure using Terraform and CloudFormation or has experience with Chef, Ansible and/or Spacelift
• Actively incorporates AI tools and methodologies to drive innovation and streamline workflows.
• Proficiency in advanced network troubleshooting, including packet capture analysis and traffic flow diagnostics.
• Is confident in their ability to own and deliver projects and issues to resolution
