Job summary

Vassar Labs is seeking an experienced Java Developer in Hyderabad to design, develop, and own microservices using Java and Spring Boot. You will build REST APIs, implement event-driven integrations with Kafka/RabbitMQ, and ensure scalable, secure production services.

Lead-level candidates will mentor the team and drive architecture discussions across time zones. Strong expertise in Java, OOP, DSA, and SQL/NoSQL databases is required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of development experience for Developer level, 5+ years for Lead.
• Hands-on expertise in Java ecosystems and microservices.
• Experience with event-driven integrations using Kafka/RabbitMQ is required.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and own microservices using Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Build REST APIs under contract-first, versioned, Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Create and maintain event-driven integrations with Kafka/RabbitMQ.
• Ensure scalability, fault-tolerance, and security in production.
• Support production applications and participate in architecture sessions.

We are looking for an experienced Java Developer with strong expertise in Java, Spring/Spring Boot, and microservices architecture. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in developing scalable applications and event-driven integrations using Kafka/RabbitMQ. Strong knowledge of Java, OOP, DSA, SQL/NoSQL databases, and enterprise integration patterns is required. For Lead-level candidates, strong technical leadership, mentoring, and architecture skills are also expected.

• Developer: 4+ years of development work experience
• Lead: 5+ years, including experience leading/mentoring a dev team
• Work from office mandatory

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and own microservices using Java and Spring/Spring Boot
• Design and implement REST APIs - contract-first, versioned, documented via Swagger/OpenAPI
• Build and maintain event-driven integrations using Kafka/RabbitMQ
• Ensure services meet scalability, fault-tolerance, and security requirements in production
• Support and maintain production applications; ensure efficient operation at scale
• Participate in architecture and design/brainstorming sessions with distributed teams across time zones
• Debug and resolve production issues; own RCA and postmortems for services in your scope
• Stay current with modern frameworks/tools and share knowledge with the team
• (Lead only) Mentor developers, review code/architecture decisions, own sprint delivery for your module, communicate risk/status to stakeholders

Must-Have Skills :

• Strong Java, OOP fundamentals, and microservices design patterns
• REST API design and development - Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman
• Kafka (hands-on, not just conceptual)
