General Mills India Centre seeks an experienced MS SQL Server/Cloud DBA to migrate and manage databases across cloud and on-prem environments. You will lead migration efforts, optimize performance, and implement automation in a fast-paced, multi-platform setting.

The role requires 9+ years of database experience in cloud infrastructures (Azure/AWS/GCP) and strong DevOps/Agile skills. Collaboration with stakeholders is essential for success in this critical 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

Overview

The Digital and Technology team of General Mills India Centre is looking for MS SQL Server / Cloud database administrator (DBA) with Operations-oriented skill sets to support Cloud/On Prem databases. This opportunity is in a fast-paced environment as we migrate and refactor enterprise scale databases from our on-premises datacenters to cloud environment. Have experience operating in a fast-paced, complex, and multi-platform environment.

Key Accountabilities

• Technical leadership for migrating existing MS SQL Server and No SQL Databases to Public Cloud.
• Migrating databases to GCP or any public cloud
• Development and ownership of migration processes, documentation, and tooling
• Expertly administer and manage mission-critical, complex, and high-volume Database Platforms in a 24/7 environment
• SQL Server administration, implementing best practices and resolving complex performance issues
• Setting up PostgreSQL, MySQL and NoSQL DBs (MongoDB) its maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Adhere to cloud security standards or best practices to avoid security breaches and reduce system vulnerability.
• Scripting and Automation
• Implementation and support of AlwaysOn and Failover Clustering.
• Database support lifecycle activities.
• Collaborate cross function to resolve tickets.
• Collaborate with application stakeholders.
• Have exposure of working within Agile framework.
• Administer, troubleshoot, and resolve failures and critical alerts.

Minimum Qualifications

• 9+ years of hands-on experience with leading design, refactoring, or migration of databases in cloud Infrastructures and services for at least one of Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google GCP (preferred)
• Experience maintaining and administering with CI/CD tools such as Ansible, Puppet, GitHub and Artifactory in a cloud environment and developing/writing scripts using advanced DevOps languages such as Python, PowerShell is a plus.
• Experience working with infrastructure as code such as Terraform, or equivalent is a plus.
• Experience with concepts, processes & tools required for cloud adoption including cloud security, governance, and integration.
• Experience with SQL Server AlwaysOn and Windows clustering.
• Experience with agile techniques and methods.
• Familiarity with user expectations for cloud Databases (to be able to design user centric engineering services – e.g., provisioning self-service workflow)
• Working knowledge on DevOps, Agile development proceses, exploration and POCs
• Works well collaboratively across functional team boundaries

Preferred Qualifications

• Must have good understanding & hands‑on experience of Linux OS and Windows Server (2012+).
• Experience working with high availability, disaster recovery, backup strategies and server tuning strategies including parameters, resources, contention, etc.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced team environment
• Candidate should be flexible, reliable, can take initiative, can deal with responsibility, and have a "can do" mentality.
