Lucasfilm Entertainment Company Ltd. LLC is seeking a Sr Facial Animator for ILM Mumbai. The role focuses on creating high-quality CGI animation of creatures and objects, using Maya and other tools, under supervision of Senior Level and Animation Supervisors.

The candidate will mentor junior animators, participate in daily reviews, and ensure timely delivery while maintaining artistic standards and technical proficiency in animation pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Traditional Animation and 3–5 years’ experience, or 5+ years in cell, stopmotion or computer animation.
• Completion of at least two years as an Entry Level Animator with advancement recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Animate a sequence of shots with high quality motion for a project.
• Mentor Entry Level Animators and assist with their shots.
• Attend dailies, provide feedback, and maintain productivity against deadlines.
• Collaborate with team on aesthetic solutions and execution across shots.
• Demonstrate strong organization and communication skills.
• Apply traditional animation principles and film production concepts.

Sr Facial Animator

The youngest of all of the ILM studios, the Mumbai studio leverages the expertise and technological know-how developed over 40 years at Industrial Light & Magic combined with the top artists and technicians in the region. Knowledge and culture flow freely between the company’s six studios and the global team shares tools and workflow allowing for seamless collaboration on all shared projects.

As we grow ILM Mumbai, we are seeking an Animator to join the team and be a part of this exciting opportunity. The Animator creates high quality motion of computer graphics creatures and objects within a shot, using a variety of animation software programs, and working under the general supervision of Senior Level and Animation Supervisors.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the successful animation of a series of shots on a specific project.
• Participates as a team member in determining various aesthetic solutions; provides feedback to other members of the production by attending dailies on a regular basis.
• Maintain or exceed a consistent level of productivity while meeting deadlines and producing high quality work
• Expected to “mentor” Entry Level Animators and must be able to assist them with their shots.
• Performs other tasks related to the creation of computer-generated animation.
• Mentor juniors and mids in the team
• Ability to take on a delegated task with a minimum of supervision
• Good organization and communication skills
• Expert understanding of traditional animation principles, acting, film production and compositional design
• Understanding of Unix and shell scripting; expert knowledge of Maya, proprietary and other software programs

Education / Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Traditional Animation and 3 years’ experience, or at least 5 years of experience working in cell, stopmotion or computer animation.
• Completion ofa minimum of two years as an Entry Level Animator in conjunction with recommendations for advancement by the Animation Supervisors and Department Manager.
