Job summary

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) invites experienced hydraulic and hydrological engineers to contribute to water resources projects in India, including hydro power and pumped storage components. The role covers analysis, design, and integration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient water conveyance systems.

You will work with numerical modeling (HEC-RAS, Flow-3D, WHAMO, Hammer), plan reservoir and river-diversion schemes, and prepare design reports and tender documents.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Water availability studies to determine firm and secondary energy potential.
  • Power potential studies to optimize plant capacity and energy output.
  • Flood studies including hydrograph analysis, unit hydrograph development, and peak flood estimation.
  • Flood Frequency Analysis (Annual/Partial Duration Series) to determine SPF and PMF.
  • Reservoir and channel flood routing.
  • Reservoir sedimentation studies to forecast long-term silting, establish new zero elevations, and assess project lifespan.
  • Develop initial ideas and concepts for planning and designing hydro projects and PSP.
  • Define general layout of the water conductor system (intakes, tunnels, penstocks, surge shafts, tailraces).
  • Reservoir planning with various zones and Storage-Elevation curves; create initial filling plans for new reservoirs.
  • Plan river diversion arrangements, including coffer dams and diversion tunnels/channels.
  • Review and perform preliminary hydraulic designs for dams, barrages, intakes, and water conductor systems.
  • Spillways, energy dissipation arrangements (plunge pools, stilling basins), and desilting chambers.
  • Surge shafts/tanks and transient analysis for system stability.
  • Cross-drainage structures (bridges, culverts), guide bunds, and flood protection embankments.
  • Head loss calculations for waterways; uplift pressure calculations for structures; soil and rock scour calculations.
  • Depth of cut-off and design of protection works; water surface profiles in rivers.
  • Design comprehensive drainage systems for project areas and powerhouse drainage.
