Responsibilities
You will regularly work with Micron’s Business Units to ensure solutions meet or exceed business requirements. In this role you will be expected to suggest, promote, and leverage published standards to minimize environment complexity and ensure regulatory as well as license compliance.
- Provide support for technologies maintained within the Unix/Linux compute platforms, including OpenShift
- Partner globally with Micron IT Operations, Engineering, Security, and Architecture teams across I&O and business units
- Ensure adherence to SOX, security, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Drive innovation, automation, and standardization of compute and container platforms
- Use scripting languages and tools to automate tasks, system builds, and change management (Ansible, shell, Python, etc.)
- Perform proactive monitoring, health checks, and capacity planning for Linux and OpenShift environments
- Contribute as necessary to IT project execution
- Continually work to improve Linux compute, OpenShift environment.
- Propose and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of systems
- Collaborate with IT Operations Manager to continually improve operations through routine monitoring of system performance metrics, review of system log files, trend analysis, configuration, incident, and problem management processes
- Support Redhat Satellite, Ansible Automation Platform, LDAP, OpenShift & Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, and GCP) based Linux Operating Systems.
- Act as a technical mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers
Qualifications & Experience
- At least 5 years of managing enterprise Unix/Linux solutions, preferably large scale inclusive of Physical, Virtual, Public and Private Cloud.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8 & 9) troubleshooting and administration
- Strong Scripting Skills in at least one of the following (Ansible, Shell, Python, etc.)
- Solid understanding of OS provisioning, patching, hardening, and end‑to‑end troubleshooting
- Experience supporting Red Hat OpenShift (installation, operations, upgrades, and troubleshooting)
- Exposure to AWS, Azure, and GCP platforms
- Experience with Red Hat Satellite and Ansible Automation Platform
- Basic to intermediate understanding of LDAP configuration and integration
- Knowledge of SOX security and compliance requirements
- Strong understanding of the OSI model and networking fundamentals
- Demonstrated ability to automate repetitive tasks to improve consistency and reliability
- Familiarity with AI‑assisted workflows and tools such as Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, or similar to enhance productivity
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal)
- Proven ability in decision‑making, prioritization, and influencing without authority
- Strong customer‑centric mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
Education
B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, other technical disciplines, or equivalent relevant work experience.
