Job summary

Mattel Global Business Services seeks a Senior Electronics Engineer to be technically hands-on, translating toy concepts into manufacturable electronic solutions. You will serve as the on-site electronics technical representative, ensuring cost, performance, schedule, safety, and quality throughout development, validation, and production ramp.

The role requires collaboration with internal teams and external manufacturers across India, with travel to key sites and occasional international travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
• 3–6 years hands-on electronic design, prototyping, and troubleshooting.
• Strong analog and digital circuit design experience.
• Solid understanding of embedded systems and microcontrollers (8–32 bit; ARM-class or similar).
• Proficiency in embedded software development using assembly and higher-level programming languages.
• Experience taking products from concept to production in consumer electronics or similarly high-volume products.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and drive issue closure across partners.
• Excellent communication skills for supplier and stakeholder meetings.
• Willingness to travel in-country 50–60% annually between manufacturing locations and partner sites.

Responsibilities

• Represent Mattel on-site and drive partner execution across in-country manufacturing.
• Communicate design intent, quality standards, safety expectations, and schedules clearly.
• Lead technical discussions and close open issues across production stages.
• Own electronic manufacturing deliverables for assigned products and validate against architecture, BOM, and specs.
• Prototype, validate, and troubleshoot electronic production fixtures.
• Define and maintain system-level and testing requirements across hardware, firmware, and software interfaces.
• Apply DFM/DFT principles to ensure robust high-volume production.
• Advise component selection considering cost, availability, lifecycle, and supplier risk.
• Support production readiness, pilot builds, corrective actions, and continuous improvements.
• Collaborate with Design, PM, Quality, and other teams; translate tech trade-offs for stakeholders.
• Manage multiple development efforts in parallel with transparent status, risks, and mitigations.
• Communicate project plans and status to global brand team.

The Opportunity:

As theSenior Electronics Engineer, your role is to be technically hands-on and responsible for translating creative toy conceptsinto manufacturable, high-quality electronic solutions. You will serve as Mattel’s on-the-ground electronics technical representative, ensuring products meetcost, performance, schedule, safety, and qualityexpectations throughout development, validation, and production ramp.

This position partners closely withinternalElectronic Design,Program Management,Mechanical,Qualityteams, and external manufacturing partners to bring engaging, safe, andhigh-quality electronic toysto market across Mattel’s iconic brands.

This role willreport to theAssociateManager, Electronic Engineeringand willtravelin-countryof the timetokey manufacturing locations and partner sitesacrossIndia, with occasional international travel as business needs require.

What Your Impact Will Be:

Represent Mattel On-Site and Drive Partner Execution

Serve as the primary electronics technical interface toin-countrymanufacturing,representing Mattel professionally in factory meetings,buildevents, line reviews, and technicaldeep dives

Communicate Mattel’s design intent, quality standards, safety expectations, and schedule priorities clearly and consistently

Lead technical discussions and drive closure on open issues acrossproduction stages, corrective actions, and process changes

Validate final solution against system architecture, schematics, BOM, and functional descriptions.

Prototype,validate, and troubleshootelectronic production fixtures.

Define and maintain system-leveland testingrequirements across hardware, firmware, and software interfacesfor manufacturing

Ensure Manufacturability, Cost, and Quality Feasibility

Apply DFM/DFT principles (design for manufacturing / design for test) to ensure robust, repeatable high-volume production

Advisecomponent selection considering cost, availability, lifecycle, compliance, and supplier risk

Drive value engineering efforts to meet target cost without sacrificing play performance, safety, or reliability

Support Production Readiness and Continuous Improvement

Support production startup, pilot builds, corrective action implementation, and ongoing product or process improvements

Evaluate and approve pilot/final samples against functional specifications and quality expectations

Partner with Quality andManufacturing teams to improve yields, reduce defects, and prevent recurrence

Collaborate Cross-Functionally and Communicate Clearly

Collaborate closely withElectronic Design, Program Management, Quality, and other engineering teams

Translate technical concepts and trade-offs for both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Manage multiple development efforts in parallel while maintaining transparent status, risks, and mitigation plans

Clearlyand regularlycommunicate projectplanning and statustomanagementand the global brand team.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineeringor related discipline

3–6 years of hands-on experience in electronic design, prototyping, and troubleshooting

Strong experience with analog and digital circuit design

Experience with electromechanical, mechatronic, or animatronic systems

Exposure to audio engineering, RF, communications, or signal processing

Experience with TFT/OLED displays, MEMS sensors, microphones, and wireless ICs (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 2.4G)

Experience supporting manufacturing builds (pilot/production), test strategy, and factory debug

Prior experience working with global vendorsand stakeholders(Asia/India/USA).
