Job summary

Applied Systems India is seeking a Sr. DevOps Engineer to join the global DevOps team supporting product development across the US, UK, Canada and India.

You will own CI/CD pipelines, deployment tooling and infrastructure, collaborating with development, QA, cloud and infrastructure teams in an Agile environment. Responsibilities include building and maintaining deployment environments, automating tasks with scripting languages, integrating monitoring, and using AI-assisted tooling to accelerate

Qualifications

• 8+ years of DevOps engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation to complete setup, testing and security steps.
• Experience writing code to automate repetitive tasks (PowerShell, Bash or Python).
• Practical experience with monitoring tools to track application performance.
• IaC and cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
• Experience using AI tools or coding assistants to automate tasks and improve productivity.

Responsibilities

As a DevOps Engineer, you deliver great work while expanding your knowledge and deepening your technical skills. The team can rely on you to complete assigned work by drawing on past experience and getting input when needed. Your work is high quality, and you collaborate with the team to deliver what is needed.

What Success Looks Like

• DevOps platform capabilities (build, source control, deployment, monitoring and test environments) are set up and maintained to meet defined specifications.
• Work is completed within expected timelines with limited guidance, and status is communicated to support the team.
• Troubleshooting support is delivered and questions are answered using documentation and monitoring tools, with others engaged on high-complexity issues when needed.
• Internal teams understand existing DevOps services and how to get support for complex requests or new services.
• Reliable delivery contributes to automation, quality and operational consistency.

What you'll do

Development, debugging, quality and security

• Complete a variety of development, testing and debugging tasks.
• Build, maintain and support CI/CD pipelines and build infrastructure for product teams, including helping teams migrate pipelines to modern platforms.
• Create and manage deployment projects, steps, variables and lifecycles, and maintain deployment manifests for promotion from development to staging and production.
• Install, configure, upgrade and troubleshoot development and test environments, including application servers and SQL Server databases.
• Configure monitoring and logging for product teams.
• Manage existing infrastructure to maintain security and ensure quality by considering functional and non-functional requirements.

Automation, system administration and continuous improvement

• Identify ways to work more efficiently and share ideas for continuous improvement.
• Automate repetitive tasks by writing code or using tools.
• Use AI tools and assistants to accelerate automation, such as generating and reviewing scripts and pipeline code, analyzing logs and alerts, and reducing manual operational work.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI across build, deployment, monitoring and support workflows, and share what works with the team.
• Manage source control repositories, branching and access in line with company best practices.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), with support from the team, to prevent recurrences.

Documentation and knowledge

• Contribute to documentation on standard processes and existing DevOps platform capabilities.
• Share ideas for improving documentation for the team and other stakeholders.

Prioritization and communication

• Deliver high-quality work within established timelines by prioritizing and getting support on complex issues or blockers.
• Communicate trade-offs and decisions to keep work aligned with standards.
• Act as a point of contact for development teams on build, deployment and environment issues, and communicate deployments, outages and status updates.
• Take an active part in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with development, operations and infrastructure teams.

Required Qualifacations

• 8+ years of experience in DevOps engineering or a related area.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• Working knowledge of software engineering principles and practices.
• Experience interpreting technical documentation to complete setup, testing and security steps.
• Experience writing code to automate repetitive tasks (for example PowerShell, Bash or Python).
• Practical experience with monitoring tools, including using them to track application performance.
• Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and related tools or frameworks for public cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
• Practical experience with debugging and issue resolution.
• Experience using AI tools or coding assistants to automate tasks and improve productivity.

PREFERRED QUALIFIACTIONs

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD and source control tools such as GitLab, TeamCity or Azure DevOps Server.
• Experience with Octopus Deploy, ArgoCD or a similar release and deployment tool.
• Experience administering Windows Server, IIS and SQL Server in development or test environments.li>
• Experience with Datadog or a similar observability platform.
• Experience with Terraform, OpenTofu, Crossplane, containers (Docker, Kubernetes) or GitOps-style deployment workflows.
• Experience building AI-driven automation, such as AI agents, LLM-based tooling or AIOps for alerting and incident triage.
• Experience working in Agile teams across multiple regions and time zones.
