Job summary

AMD Bengaluru is seeking a Linux Kernel Networking Engineer (Host/WLAN) to join our driver/firmware teams. You will contribute to WLAN/Bluetooth/5G host-side features and help define product solutions for high-performance wireless systems.

This role requires deep OS knowledge, C/C++, and experience with Linux or RTOS development, plus strong debugging and profiling skills. You’ll collaborate with architecture teams to deliver robust, scalable technologies in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 5–12+ years of relevant experience with strong object-oriented programming and C/C++—assembly a plus.
• Knowledge of WLAN/Bluetooth/5G standards is a definite plus.
• Experience with Linux and/or RTOS development and kernel-level concepts.

Responsibilities

• Understand WLAN host stack concepts, host–firmware communication, and DMA concepts.
• Design and develop host-side Wired/WLAN/5G features with deep OS understanding.
• Collaborate with architecture teams to improve future wireless products and performance.

Linux Kernel Networking Engineer (Host/WLAN)

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Software Systems Design Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD’s products, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market. The Software Systems Design Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.

THE PERSON:

As a Software Systems Design Engineer, you will deliver our next generation of products in the Wireless industry – WLAN, BT, 5G etc. In this high visibility position, your systems engineering expertise, Wireless standards knowledge, firmware and Windows/Linux side kernel expertisewill be necessary to define products, develop solutions, assess root causes, and produce solution resolutions.As a senior member of the team, taking initiative in mentoring to achieve the team’s goal of on time delivery is expected.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Understand concepts of Wlan VIFs, DMA and firmware-host communication
• Design and develop Wired/Wireless LAN /5G features - specifically on the host side- with deep understanding of the complete Wlan host stack
• Deep understanding and hands on experience in OS concepts (synchronization, threads, user-kernel separation, scheduler etc.)
• Use AI effectively in all aspects of design, development, test, documentation and debugging tasks
• Work with AMD’s architecture specialists to improve future products
• Apply a data minded approach to target optimization efforts
• Stay informed of Wireless software and hardware trends and innovations
• Design and develop new groundbreaking AMD technologies
• Participating in design and development of new features and support of existing features

• Debugging/fixexisting issuesand research alternative, more efficient ways to accomplish the same work
• Develop technical relationships with peers and partners

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• 5 to 12+ years of relevant industry experience in strong object-oriented programming background, C/C++ preferred; Assembly language programming abilities on different CPU cores a definite plus.

• Ability to write high quality code with a keen attention to detail
• Knowledge of different WiFi/BT/5G standards is a definite plus
• Experience withmodern concurrent programming and threading APIs
• Experiencewith Linux and/or any Real Time Operating System development
• Experience with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers is a plus
• Effective communicationand problem-solving skills

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

• Bachelor’s orMaster'sdegree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
