Job summary

Aspen Technology is seeking a highly skilled Sr Developer to join the Commercial Office team. You will contribute to our Configure-Price-Quote (CPQ) platform, working across React/TypeScript, Django/Python, and PostgreSQL to deliver scalable, secure business solutions.

You will collaborate with Finance, PMO, and other business units to ensure pricing logic, data integrity, and workflows are consistent across the stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years IT experience and 3 years in Django and Python building REST APIs.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and relational data modeling.
• Experience in technical walkthroughs, code reviews, and setting technical standards.

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled an experienced Developer to join our Commercial Office team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating scalable, secure, and sustainable business solutions that drive our organization’s success. You will collaborate closely with our Commercial Finance team, our PMO group, and our business functions to ensure that our solutions meet the needs of all stakeholders.

As a Sr Developer, you will work directly in the codebase every day and will contribute to our internal Configure-Price-Quote (CPQ) platform which supports multiple business unites with different UI layouts and configuration flows. The system uses a hybrid pricing model implement in both TypeScript (front-end instant calculations) and Python (back-end authoritative logic). You will work across the entire stack (React/TypeScript, Django/Python, PostgreSQL) and will play a central role in ensuring pricing logic, business rules, and data flows remain consistent and correct.

Your Impact

• Build end-to-end features across React/TypeScript, Django/Python, and PostgreSQL.
• Implement UI flows for different business units using page-scoped state patterns.
• Develop backend endpoints that support pricing, configuration, and quote lifecycle operations.

• Maintain and evolve pricing logic implements in both TypeScript and Python.
• Ensure cross-language consistency by owning shared rule definitions, golden test cases, and validation workflows.
• Collaborate with the business stakeholders to translate business rules into clear, testable logic.
• Improve code clarity, modularity, and maintainability across the stack.
• Contribute to architectural discussions around state management, pricing workflows, and back-end synchronization.
• Write automated tests (unit, integration, and logic-validation tests).
• Participate in code reviews and help maintain consistent engineering standards.

Document logic, workflows, and decisions to reduce knowledge concentration.

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience as an IT professional and 3 years of experience in Django and Python, and building REST APIs
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and relational data modeling
• Experience in conducting technical walkthroughs, code reviews, and developing technical standards.
• Experience in migrating complex solutions into the production environment.
• Proven ability to quickly reverse engineer existing, legacy configurations and code to solve future problems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
• Strong understanding of core business processes and industry best practices in lead-to-opportunity, quote-to-cash, support operations and master data management.
• Experience evaluating, implementing, and maintaining AppExchange managed packages.
• Preferred: Certified Platform Developer (I or II).
• Independent worker, self-guided, proactive employee desired.
• Team player, comfortable in a Hybrid waterfall, agile/scrum environment.
• Ability to make timely decision, dealing with ambiguity and shifting priorities.
