Job summary

SGS & Co is seeking a skilled Image Editor to retouch, mask, and composite images for packaging and print media. The role focuses on color accuracy, neutral tones, and consistency across projects, collaborating with creative teams and maintaining print-ready deliverables.

The ideal candidate will have strong Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite skills, experience with color management, and familiarity with InDesign or similar tools. Mac OS proficiency and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Proficient with Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience applying print standards to image content.
• Experience in a color-managed environment.
• Understanding of file types used in print and digital applications.
• Knowledge of color theory and masking techniques.
• Experience in packaging design or related fields is a plus.
• Proficient on Mac OS; familiarity with InDesign or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Retouch and mask images as directed.
• Create composites to match layout and artistic direction.
• Ensure final color accuracy of image content.
• Evaluate images for contrast, neutrality and tones.
• Maintain print sample dockets and Epson printer operations.
• Organize files and communicate status to leaders.
• Support process improvements and participate in production meetings.
• Assist junior color retouchers as needed.

Job description

Essential Responsibilities, Accountabilities & Results

• Retouch and mask images based on direction and artistic integrity
• Create composite images using best practices and techniques to match layout
• Responsibility for final color of image content
• Evaluate images for proper contrast, neutrality and tones
• Verify color pf products using samples and reference files.
• Consider print requirements
• Participate in spot-checking other’s work as part of ongoing quality program
• Utilization of image and project racking systems to assure on-time completion of tasks
• Organization and file management
• Communication to department leaders on status of assignments
• Take ownership and responsibility for image content at the project level, working with creative teams and relaying critical information
• Participate in process improvement efforts and various production meetings to foster a positive creative impact on the business
• May train or assist junior Color Retouchers
• Responsibility to Maintain the Print sample dockets
• Responsibility to Maintain the Epson printers
• Responsibility to Maintain the stock inventory for Epson Machine accessories.

Competency Requirements

• Professional experience using Photoshop and general knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience of applying print standards to image content preferred
• Experience working in and maintaining a color managed environment preferred
• Understanding of file types used in print and in digital applications
• Practical experience applying principles of color theory
• Experience in masking techniques
• Creative experience in packaging environment preferred
• Proficient with current Mac OS
• Use of Adobe InDesign or equivalent design application preferred.
