This position is to be part of the team which provides accounting support to a Real Estate Investment Firm from the US Mortgage industry. This role will oversee certain cash, investment and REIT calculations and reconciliations as well as accounting, reconciliation and administrative responsibilities across the client’s Debt Funds and Investments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain detailed loan investment files that reconcile monthly principal payments and current outstanding loan principal balances
• Recalculate debt securitization liability (CLO) and expense investment class allocations and ensure agreement to third party reconciliations and statements
• Recalculate warehouse interest expense and principal payments and ensure agreement to third party statements
• Calculate and record monthly amortization of discounts received/given on acquisitions/sale of investment cash flows
• Calculate and record monthly amortization of deferred mortgage costs, including securitization costs
• Maintain shareholder loan calculations and reconciliations between the Limited Partnership and the REIT for each Fund
• Perform monthly compliance reporting for each CLO
• Calculate quarterly allocations of income, expense, gains, losses and promote to each Funds investor
• Preparation of investor capital calls, distributions, and quarterly capital account statements
• Code and enter invoices to Berkshire’s accounts payable system for approval and payment
• Perform quarterly REIT qualification testing for each Fund
• Extract pertinent loan terms and details from loan agreements, as loans close, and create ETL upload files to get information into Berkshire’s debt software
• Preparation of opening acquisition and sale/repayment entries
• Preparation of Yardi set up forms for new entities
• Ad hoc investment, Fund, or investor tasks and requests.
• Prepare and post investment-level accounting entries in Yardi related to loan and investment activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• A range of 3-5 years of experience in US Accounting and Bank Reconciliations
• Experience in Yardi and US Real Estate investment/debt accounting systems is preferred.
• Understanding of accounting cycles, account classifications, debts and credits.
• Understanding account reconciliation differences and how to go about resolving them
• Must be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products, including, Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Advanced Excel Skills like Pivot Tables, lookups, macros, etc would be advantageous.
