Manufacturing and Quality Technical Hub Hyderabad
Lilly has invested more than $1B to establish a Manufacturing and Quality technical hub in India. The hub will oversee contract manufacturing of starting materials and intermediates for API production and provide scientific leadership for manufacturing and quality processes.
Job Description
Role Overview and Key Responsibilities
Provides technical support and performs analytical development work for protein synthesis lab process development through the design and execution of experiments and the development of analytical methods.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Culture & Lab Management
- Ensure that appropriate personal protective equipment is available and that safety precautions are followed.
- Maintain good administration and housekeeping of the PRD department work area.
People Leadership
- Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing team of process chemists aligned with Lilly culture.
- Set clear objectives, provide coaching, conduct performance reviews, and support career development.
- Promote a culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, safety, and compliance.
- Work as a team and take responsibility with accountability.
Scientific & Technical Leadership
- Understand the scientific principles required for analytical and semi‑preparative scale separation of manufacturing intermediates and drug substances in peptide.
- Understand the chemistry and stability of peptides.
- Develop analytical methods for key process steps in peptide synthesis.
- Design, conduct, and analyze experiments to deepen process understanding and optimize reaction conditions.
- Understand analytical instrumentation including LC, GC, titration, and mass spectrometry.
- Provide technical support to process development areas as needed.
- Participate in technology transfer of analytical methods.
- Document all work in an appropriate manner.
Education Requirement
- Ph.D. in College/University in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry (ph.D. + Post‑Doc in process chemistry) with 12+ years of experience.
Other Information
- Some domestic and international travel (<5%) may be required.
