Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated SQL Developer Intern to join our data and application development team. This role is ideal for someone looking to build hands‑on experience in database development and optimization. The intern will support the design, development, analysis, and optimization of SQL queries, procedures, and database components while learning best practices for performance tuning and scalable database solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining high‑quality SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions based on business requirements.
- Analyze existing SQL queries, procedures, and functions to identify opportunities for optimization and performance improvements.
- Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of database objects, including:
- Tables and Views
- Stored Procedures and Functions
- Triggers and Cursors
- Temporary Tables and Table Variables
- Common Table Expressions (CTEs)
- Apply basic indexing strategies and database keys to improve query performance and data integrity.
- Help analyze execution plans, query statistics, and plan cache under guidance from senior developers.
- Participate in query optimization, performance monitoring, and database tuning activities.
- Ensure proper handling of database transactions to maintain data consistency and reliability.
- Collaborate with application developers, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective database solutions.
- Document database logic, queries, and optimization approaches as needed.
Key Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of SQL fundamentals (SELECT statements, joins, subqueries, aggregations).
- Familiarity with relational database concepts such as normalization, keys, and relationships.
- Basic knowledge of stored procedures, functions, and views.
- Willingness to learn database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
