Job summary

Amgen seeks an Information Systems Job Description Specialist Scrum Master for AI products & platforms in Hyderabad. You will provide senior Agile delivery leadership and coaching, partnering with product, engineering and data science to improve team outcomes and cross-team alignment.

You will lead planning, backlog sequencing and delivery plans, while driving continuous improvement, risk management and transparent reporting with Jira/Confluence across distributed teams.

Qualifications

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Specialist Scrum Master will provide senior Agile delivery leadership and coaching for AI products and platforms within Amgen’s AI & Data Organization. The role partners with product, engineering, data science and business stakeholders to improve delivery outcomes, team effectiveness and cross‑team alignment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Lead and continuously improve Agile delivery for one or more AI product or platform teams, adapting Scrum and Kanban practices to team context and delivery needs.
• Coach Product Owners, product managers, engineers, data scientists and stakeholders on Agile principles, outcome‑focused planning, backlog quality and effective team collaboration.
• Partner with product and technical leaders to translate roadmaps and business priorities into clear goals, sequenced backlogs and achievable delivery plans.
• Facilitate planning, daily coordination, reviews, retrospectives, refinement and demonstrations. Ensure ceremonies result in clear decisions, ownership and follow‑through.
• Identify and manage delivery risks, impediments, dependencies and capacity constraints. Drive timely resolution and **escalate** issues with clear impact, options and recommendations.
• Coordinate across teams and functions to align milestones, integration points and shared dependencies; represent team needs in cross‑team planning and governance forums as appropriate.
• Use Jira, Confluence and delivery data to provide transparent reporting on progress, commitments, outcomes, risks and trends. Help leaders understand delivery health without relying on activity‑only measures.
• Analyze predictability, flow, cycle time, scope changes and other relevant indicators to identify improvement opportunities. Facilitate experiments and track whether changes improve outcomes.
• Build team ownership, psychological safety and continuous improvement. Support conflict resolution and help teams address challenges constructively.
• Promote practical engineering and quality practices, including appropriate testing, automation, DevOps collaboration and responsible use of AI‑enabled delivery tools.
• Contribute to Agile practice consistency and knowledge sharing across the AI & Data Organization; mentor Scrum Masters and support broader capability building as needed.
• Ensure Agile ways of working accommodate the needs of global, distributed and cross‑functional teams.

Basic Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, business or a related field and 8 to 12 years of relevant experience, including substantial experience as a Scrum Master or Agile delivery lead; OR An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience. Relevant experience should include leading Agile teams, coaching product and engineering partners, and improving delivery outcomes in technology or digital product environments.

Functional Skills:

Must‑Have Skills:

• Recognized Scrum Master or Agile certification (e.g., CSM, PSM, SAFe Scrum Master or equivalent).
• Demonstrated experience facilitating Agile delivery and coaching teams and stakeholders beyond basic ceremony facilitation.
• Strong knowledge of Scrum and Kanban practices, backlog refinement, story slicing, estimation, sprint or flow planning, and continuous improvement.
• Experience using Jira and Confluence for team delivery, planning, risk visibility and reporting; Jira Align experience is beneficial where applicable.
• Ability to manage cross‑team dependencies, delivery risks, impediments and competing priorities in a complex, changing environment.
• Experience using delivery metrics thoughtfully to identify trends, improve predictability and support informed decisions.
• Good understanding of the software development lifecycle and collaboration across product, engineering, data science, quality and operations.

Good‑to‑Have Skills:

• Experience supporting AI, data science, cloud, platform or other technically complex product teams.
• Working knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, test automation, technical debt and software quality practices.
• SAFe or other scaling framework experience, with the ability to apply only the practices that add value to the teams.
• Experience mentoring Scrum Masters or contributing to an Agile community of practice.

• Excellent facilitation, coaching, influencing and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to translate technical delivery topics into concise business language.
• Sound judgment and analytical problem‑solving skills; able to distinguish meaningful delivery signals from activity metrics.
