Job summary

Amgen Inc. (IR) seeks an experienced Tax Architect to lead SAP S/4HANA tax architecture and integrate Vertex and DRC. You will guide the ERP transition to the S/4HANA Intelligent Enterprise and ensure compliant tax processes across input/output tax.

You will collaborate with global teams, architect complex tax solutions, and contribute to rapid value delivery with AI/ML enhancements and strong controls.

Qualifications

• Experience in implementing and configuring SAP Document and Reporting Compliance modules (e-invoicing, withholding tax, real-time reporting).
• Hands-on experience configuring Vertex and integrating with SAP solutions (S/4HANA Core, Ariba, MDG).
• Strong knowledge of global tax regulations (VAT/GST, sales tax, eTax like SAF-T).
• Ability to design and review tax architecture to deliver value.

In this vital role you will be responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing indirect tax solutions such as Vertex and SAP Document and Reporting Compliance. As a Tax Architect within the Technology team, this role will help guide the transition from the global ERP instance on SAP ECC to the S/4HANA Intelligent Enterprise and integrating the Indirect Tax tools. Roles & Responsibilities

• Design and configure native tax processes to SAP S/4HANA ecosystem and integrating Vertex, addressing both input and output tax requirements
• Collaborate with business partners to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications
• Ensure the SAP S/4HANA and SAP Document and Reporting compliance solution configured meets business goals and leading practices
• Conduct architectural reviews and assessments to identify potential risks and recommend mitigations
• Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to deliver and sustain Amgen's S/4HANA ecosystem utilizing the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
• Develop innovative solutions that drive speed to value via AI/ML and leading control practices

Functional Skills: Must-Have Skills

• Experience in implementing and configuring SAP Document and Reporting Compliance modules such as e-invoicing, withholding tax, and real-time reporting
• Hands on experience in configuring Vertex and integrating with SAP solutions such as S/4HANA Core, Ariba, SAP Master Data Governance, etc.
• Strong SAP FICO experience and knowledge of global tax regulations, including VAT/GST, sales tax, and eTax regulations such as SAF-T
• Ability to identify and deploy leading practices that will drive business value for Amgen's tax professionals for input/output tax

Good-to-Have Skills

• Proficiency in SAP Advanced Intercompany, SAP Material Ledger, and optimized transfer pricing setup in SAP
• Experience in Corporate Tax suite, Automation, and Reporting
• Experience working in an agile environment and familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)

Professional Certifications

• Certification in SAP Document and Reporting Compliance (Mandatory)
• Certification in Thomson Reuters (preferred)
• Relevant SAP S/4HANA FICO certification (preferred)
