Job summary

Standard Chartered in Bengaluru seeks a skilled Product Control professional to drive end-to-end product and valuation control for Finance. The role works with Front office, Middle Office, IT, Treasury and external auditors to deliver robust finance reporting and control implementation across the Group.

You will handle daily P&L reporting for macro trading, ensure IAS39/IFRS9 adherence, perform balance sheet controls, and contribute to quarterly disclosures.

Qualifications

  • Accounting is essential and governs the role.
  • Knowledge of derivatives and financial instruments is required.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary for internal networks across stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and controls is expected.
  • Experience with IFRS/IAS standards and financial reporting is required.

Responsibilities

  • Timely production of daily P&L reporting for Macro Trading - Product Control.
  • Execute processes to ensure adherence to IAS39/IFRS9.
  • Execution of daily/monthly controls around P&L and Balance Sheet.
  • Review of daily/month-end reconciliations between TP systems and General Ledger.
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual disclosures with commentary.
  • Liaising with traders, middle office, IT, operations, external audit and financial controllers.
  • Support change projects and UAT for system enhancements.

Job Summary

The Product Control is accountable for delivery of the end-to-end product & valuation control functions in GBS and lead different strategic initiatives for Finance.

Role

We are seeking a dynamic and technically skilled professional to join our Credit PC team. This role will play a pivotal part in expanding the Bank’s accounting capabilities, developing compliant and commercially effective strategies, and supporting IFRS 9 transition initiatives. The successful candidate will work for Product Control, working closely with Front office, Middle Office, Technical Accounting, Treasury, IRRBB, Product Control, and other key stakeholders to deliver best-in-class finance reporting and control implementation across the Group. This will include:

  • Timely production of daily P&L reporting for Macro Trading - Product Control. The main products controlled are Rates (Bonds/SWAP), FX Products, Repos, Equity Derivatives Government Bonds & T-Bills, Fixed Deposits, Certificates of Deposits, Debt Issuance, and associated hedges interest rate hedges (IRS, CCS, FX Swaps).
  • Execute processes to ensure adherence to IAS39/IFRS9.
  • Execution of daily/monthly controls around P&L and Balance Sheet
  • Review of Daily/Month end reconciliations between the various TP systems and the General Ledger.
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual disclosures with necessary commentaries.
  • Liaising with different stakeholders like desk, middle office, IT, operation, external audit and respective financial controller to timely resolution of the issues
  • Support change project initiatives and conduct User Acceptance Testing for enhancements to current systems or migration to new system.

  • Manage relationship with internal stakeholders, take regular feedback, anticipate, and understand issues and elevate appropriately for timely resolution
  • Manage strong relationship with support teams (IT, Operations and Risk) and bring synergies by interacting and integrating with cross functional teams

Qualifications
  • CA/MBA/CFA/FRM/ACCA having 2-4 years of work experience with:
  • Good understanding of accounting and basic understanding of financial markets products;
  • Strong control mindset;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skill which help build an effective internal network across the numerous stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Excel (advanced), SQL, Power BI for data mining, transformation, and dashboard reporting will be an added advantage
  • Prior experience with PeopleSoft financials, SAP, MS Office & MS SQL will be an added advantage;
