Job summary

Vestas India in Chennai is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering specialist to support Onshore and Offshore wind projects in APAC. You will act as a frontline technical interface between Technology and regional business units, delivering fault diagnosis, RCA, and reliability improvements, while coordinating with service, operations and ROC teams.

This role involves installation and commissioning support, software/configuration management, and close collaboration with global R&D.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical / Electronics or similar engineering discipline.
  • 10–15 years of experience in technical support, engineering, issue investigation, or reliability engineering within the wind energy industry.
  • Extensive practical experience supporting Vestas Onshore and Offshore Wind Turbines.
  • Experience with Classic Controller and VMP Controller platforms is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated skill in turbine fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, technical problem-solving, and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including Service, Operations, Technology, and ROC.
  • Willingness to travel to wind farm sites and support critical troubleshooting activities when required.
  • Advanced turbine fault diagnosis and fault-finding ability.
  • Solid understanding of wind turbine electrical, control, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to analyze SCADA data, alarms, logs, and performance trends to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in controller software, turbine communication networks, and condition monitoring systems.
  • Solid knowledge of reliability engineering principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Regional Technology APAC | LifeCycle Engineering | Electrical Engineering Asia. Electrical Engineering Asia is part of the LifeCycle Engineering APAC organization, providing Electrical Engineering and Technical Support to both Service and Construction operations across Asia. The team serves as the frontline technical interface between Technology (VTO) and regional business units, supporting both Onshore and Offshore wind projects. As a key technical function, the department delivers specialized support for electrical systems, turbine reliability, troubleshooting, product improvements, software management, and operational excellence initiatives across the region.


Responsibilities


  • Technical Support & Issue Resolution

    • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve reliability

    • Provide skilled second-level Electrical Engineering dispositions to Service and Construction organizations.

    • Provide remote Engineering and problem-solving support to field technicians and site teams



  • Construction & Commissioning Support

    • Support installation, commissioning, start-up, and handover of wind turbines

    • Ensure proper configuration, software setup, and parameter alignment for wind farms

    • Assist Construction teams in resolving technical and commissioning challenges



  • Reliability & Performance Improvement

    • Facilitate analysis of poor-performing turbines and wind farms and recommend performance improvement plans

    • Conduct reliability discussions internally and with customers

    • Support cost-out initiatives and continuous improvement projects



  • Software & Configuration Management

    • Ensure correct software and parameter settings across wind farms

    • Coordinate software improvement requests and field validation activities

    • Perform remote software and configuration uploads when required



  • Stakeholder Management

    • Liaise with customers and regional stakeholders to facilitate timely resolution of technical issues

    • Work closely with global engineering teams and R&D to deliver technical solutions

    • Provide technical input to support Sales in promoting turbine and service offerings



  • Knowledge Management

    • Document effective problem-solving solutions within Vestas Global Advisor (VGA)

    • Share technical knowledge and best practices with field operations teams




Qualifications
