Job summary

MSD Animal Health Technology Labs in Hyderabad seeks an Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and support scalable IT infrastructure across on‑prem and cloud environments. You will work with Linux/Windows systems, virtualization platforms, and automation tools to deliver reliable services.

This role partners with software and IT teams to optimize performance and security. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with cloud and virtualization, scripting, IaC, and CI/CD practices,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or any Technology stream.
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience working with network and system administration for Linux/Unix and Windows servers.
  • Experience with traditional disaster recovery & data backup solutions (Commvault, Acronis).
  • Cloud and Virtualization Platforms: Proficiency in virtualization (Vmware, Hyper‑V, Nutanix) and familiarity with cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) platforms.
  • Networking: Understanding of virtual networks, VPNs, and firewalls.
  • Operating Systems: Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Scripting and Automation: Skills in scripting languages like Bash or PowerShell and familiarity with infrastructure automation and management tools (Ansible, Terraform).
  • DevOps practices: Experience with Git, infrastructure as code (IaC), observability, and CI/CD.
  • Security Best Practices: Familiarity with IT security practices and compliance.
  • Problem‑Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Product and customer‑centric approach.
  • Experience with other programming languages (Python, Java) is a nice to have.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the design, procurement, installation, upgrading, operation, control, maintenance, and effective use of specific technology services.
  • Follow standard approaches and established design patterns to create new designs for systems or system components. Apply agreed standards and tools to achieve a well‑engineered result.
  • Carry out and also improve system software development and maintenance tasks by updating the product design to automate routine system administration tasks using standard tools and software development practices.
  • Contribute to identification and prioritized adoption of Technology Engineering community practices within the products where you work.
  • Work within a matrix organizational structure, reporting to both the functional manager and the Product manager.
  • Participate in Product planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with Product goals.

Role Overview:

An Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and supporting the infrastructure that enables an organization's IT systems and services to run smoothly. This includes working with hardware, networking, virtualization, cloud environments, and security systems to ensure the organization's IT infrastructure is efficient, reliable, and scalable. Infrastructure engineers often work closely with software engineers, IT support teams, and system administrators to optimize performance, mitigate risks, and deliver high-quality services to end-users.
