About Catalyx Space
We’re building AWS for space—providing in-space experiments and tech demos across LEO, deep space, and lunar orbit. Our offerings include unmanned labs, testbeds for rideshare and dedicated missions, and re‑entry capsules for payload return. We simplify access with end-to-end solutions, no minimum mass limits, zero integration fees, and fast deployment (≤6 months), serving biopharma, semiconductors, materials science, defense, and more.
Role
Lead the design, development, and qualification of flight-proven spacecraft separation devices. You’ll own the full lifecycle—from architecture and detailed design through analysis, testing, supplier coordination, and flight qualification.
Responsibilities
- Own design, architecture, and qualification of spacecraft separation systems.
- Lead development of separation mechanisms for spacecraft/platforms.
- Support dynamic modelling and modal response simulations.
- Plan and execute qualification testing: vibration, shock, and TVAC.
- Collaborate with systems/structures teams for seamless integration.
- Deliver flight-qualified hardware and complete documentation (drawings, analyses, procedures, reports).
- Drive procurement and vendor coordination for parts and services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering (or related).
- 5–10 years in spacecraft mechanisms, including ≥3 years specifically on separation systems.
- Hands‑on experience with flight‑proven separation hardware.
- Strong GD&T (ASME Y14.5), DFM, and DfAM skills; tolerance stack‑up analysis.
- Experience with SolidWorks (layouts/linkages) or equivalent mechanism design tools.
- Modelling of complex joints; vibration analysis and test for mechanisms.
- Experience preparing CMM probing area descriptions for inspection.
- Knowledge of coatings/plating/surface treatments for mechanism hardware.
- Proficiency with ANSYS (or similar CAE) for structural, modal, and thermal analyses.
- Experience running qualification campaigns (shock, vibration, TVAC).
- Proven supplier/procurement coordination and schedule ownership.
Preferred
- Prior spacecraft separation system work and flight heritage hardware delivery.
- Comfort with occasional extended hours/weekends during critical test/launch windows.
- Competitive salary (details will be shared with shortlisted candidates).
- Health insurance.
- Provident fund.
