Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SOX Manager based in India.

As a SOX Manager, you will play a central role in building and scaling a robust financial controls environment within a fast-growing technology organization. You’ll lead key SOX execution workstreams across business processes and IT controls, covering risk assessment, control design, testing, remediation, and audit coordination. The role combines hands‑on technical expertise with cross-functional leadership across Finance, Accounting, IT, Security, Business Systems, and Engineering. You’ll help establish scalable, audit-ready processes while ensuring controls support business growth without creating unnecessary complexity. This is an opportunity to shape an evolving SOX program and contribute to broader IPO-readiness initiatives. You’ll also have the opportunity to use AI and automation to modernize control monitoring, evidence collection, testing, and reporting while maintaining strong governance and auditability

Accountabilities:
  • Own key execution workstreams across business process, entity-level, and IT controls, helping implement and continuously improve the SOX program in partnership with the US-based SOX leadership team.
  • Lead walkthroughs, risk assessments, control design evaluations, and testing across significant financial processes, including revenue and order-to-cash, financial close and reporting, procure-to-pay, payroll, treasury, and tax.
  • Lead IT SOX activities in partnership with IT, Security, Business Systems, and Engineering, covering ITGCs, automated and application controls, IPE, SaaS and internally developed systems, data flows, integrations, deployments, access management, IT operations, change management, and SDLC dependencies.
  • Manage day‑to‑day SOX PMO activities for assigned workstreams, coordinating plans, testing and reliance activities, audit requests, dependencies, timelines, and deliverables with internal stakeholders, external auditors, and SOX leadership.
  • Identify potential control deficiencies, perform initial severity and root‑cause assessments, support conclusions, and work with control owners to remediate and validate issues through closure.
  • Develop and maintain clear control documentation, including process narratives, risk and control matrices, testing procedures, evidence standards, and guidance for control owners.
  • Embed practical, scalable controls into core Finance workflows while continuously improving efficiency and operational discipline.
  • Leverage AI, automation, and scalable processes to improve control monitoring, evidence collection, testing, issue management, and reporting while maintaining appropriate human oversight and auditability.
  • Support broader SOX transformation and IPO-readiness initiatives as the organization continues to scale.
Requirements:
  • Bring 8+ years of progressive experience in SOX, internal audit, external audit, IT audit, risk advisory, or internal controls, ideally within a public, IPO‑ready, high‑growth technology, or public accounting/advisory environment.
  • Demonstrate hands‑on experience across both business process and IT controls, including ITGCs, privileged access, IT operations, change management, SDLC, automated and application controls, system‑generated reports or IPE, interfaces, data flows, and internally developed applications.
  • Have experience reviewing SOC 1 reports, including relevant exceptions and complementary user entity controls (CUECs), and assessing their impact on the overall control environment.
  • Possess strong knowledge of SOX 404 and ICFR, including risk assessment, scoping, control design and documentation, testing, deficiency evaluation, remediation, and audit methodology.
  • Experience evaluating controls across complex financial and technology environments such as ERP, CRM, HRIS, billing and payment systems, integrations, and automated workflows is highly valuable.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as NetSuite, Salesforce, Workday, or similar enterprise systems is a plus.
  • Demonstrate strong program management and cross‑functional leadership skills, with the ability to operate independently, influence stakeholders without direct authority, and communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Bring a pragmatic builder mindset and a track record of improving processes and using AI or automation to make controls, testing, evidence collection, and reporting more scalable without compromising auditability or business speed.
  • Experience in public accounting or advisory, including Big 4 or another top‑tier firm, is beneficial.
  • Experience building or scaling a SOX program within a high‑growth SaaS, technology, or pre‑IPO environment is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with usage‑or‑consumption‑based revenue models, complex billing flows, cloud‑native or security‑focused environments, modern GRC tools, workflow automation, or continuous control monitoring is desirable.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business, or a related field is preferred, along with CA, CPA, CIA, CISA, or an equivalent certification.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package, including equity‑based compensation.
  • Inclusive healthcare package.
  • Flexible time off.
  • Mentorship and opportunities to attend events that support professional development and networking.
  • Equipment and technology needed to perform the role effectively.
  • Work‑from‑home budget to help create a productive remote workspace.
  • Potential eligibility for a company bonus or variable pay program, depending on the role.
  • Opportunity to contribute to a rapidly evolving SOX and financial controls function within a high‑growth technology environment.
  • Exposure to AI‑native processes, automation, IPO‑readiness initiatives, and complex business and technology controls.
  • Inclusive workplace that encourages candidates to apply even if they do not meet every listed qualification.
