Overview

Position: Sourcing Specialist

Job Description

Identify, vet, and manage Indian suppliers for international buyers and domestic exporters. Manage sampling, supplier negotiations, capacity checks, and maintain a high-quality supplier database.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret client technical and commercial briefs and translate them into sourcing specifications (materials, tolerances, packaging, labeling).
  • Map supplier clusters across India (textiles, handicrafts, FMCG, herbal products, packaging) using online directories, trade associations, and field contacts.
  • Issue RFQs, collate quotations, and compare supplier cost sheets (raw materials, processing, packing, inland freight).
  • Coordinate sample production and logistics, including sample cost negotiation, timelines, and sampling QA checklists.
  • Conduct supplier due diligence, including factory visit checklists, capacity verification, financial and legal checks, and certifications.
  • Prepare supplier scorecards (quality, delivery, communication, price) and update the supplier database.
  • Negotiate MOQs, lead times, tooling costs, and payment milestones.
  • Support the commissioning stage by confirming production schedules, first-piece approvals, and mid-run checks.
  • Work with QA and logistics teams to ensure pre-shipment compliance and packaging readiness.
Requirements
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, Engineering, or Commerce.
  • 2–3 years of hands-on experience in product sourcing, procurement, or vendor development (export experience preferred).
  • Strong negotiation skills and practical knowledge of supplier capabilities and manufacturing processes.
  • Good understanding of product costing and the ability to build cost breakdowns.
  • Comfortable with factory visits and site audits.
