Job summary

ASSPL, Amazon's India arm, seeks a Solution Engineer to invent and implement engineering solutions for material flow, equipment, and human/machine efficiency across the India supply chain. You will lead design and innovation efforts, collaborate with vendors and internal teams, travel to multiple sites, and document layouts, SOPs, and standards for scalable, cost-effective operations.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of Amazon RME Mechatronics/Robotics experience.
  • 1+ years of Microsoft Office applications experience.
  • Associate’s degree or 2+ years of professional or military experience.

  • Knowledge of systems controls and basic mathematics.
  • Willing to work flexible schedules and travel to India sites.

Description

We’re hiring an Solution Engineer to Invent, design, and implement engineering solutions to complex material flow/transformation and human/machine efficiency problems throughout the India Amazon supply chain.

  • Lead and coordinate design and innovation efforts to develop optimal solutions for the fulfillment and transportation network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations.
  • Collaboration with internal teams and external vendors to generate high quality, cost effective solutions in very short periods of time.
Key job responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate concept and design development efforts for optimal solutions for the India fulfillment network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, ergonomics, associate experience, operational considerations and site layout
  • Work closely with vendors, suppliers and other teams to create innovative solutions
  • Conduct detailed design review after implementation in partnering with WHS and Operations
  • Collaborate with the launch team to ensure every detail is thought through and documented using a layout, module or Standard Operating Procedure and change control
  • Develop, document and update design standards in conjunction with worldwide design teams
  • Build strong working relationships with key company partners such as IN Launch team, Worldwide Design team, IN Procurement, IT, Loss Prevention, RME, WHS, Change Management, IN Operations, IN ACES and IN Capacity Planning team.
  • Willing to travel to different sites across India to interact with internal and external business and technical leaders
A day in the life
  • Lead the conception and execution of intricate material handling solutions.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams, stakeholders, vendors, and suppliers to create innovative designs
  • Conduct post-implementation design reviews
  • Collaborate with the pre-construction and launch team for comprehensive documentation, and update design standards.
  • Foster robust relationships with key internal teams and travel across sites spread across India for crucial interactions.
About The Team

IN-Engineering team is responsible for Layout Design & Engineering of Amazon operated buildings in India. We do Solution Engineering, Design of MHE, Warehouse Automation, Storage & 4M and Controls Engineering. We work on existing buildings to retrofits for capacity enhancement through structural changes to improve productivity, safety & associate experience. We create future templates as per business requirements while introducing technology & innovation in Operation process path.

We create operation layouts with man & material flow, storage & processing, cafeteria, L&D area, amenities block, dock, yard, MEP service utilities with vehicle and truck parking. We get the design signed off by stakeholders that include ACES, Operations, Safety, RME, SLP, HR, IT and WW Engineering team. We are responsible to release Shelving & MHE Automation RFP and their design approval with IQ/OQ support. For new building launch, we provide the Processing 4M to project team. We do vendor evaluation to introduce new vendors for Shelving, Cart, Workstation and MHE.

Basic Qualifications
  • 1+ years of Amazon RME (BB/3P) Mechatronics & Robotics Technician (MRT) experience
  • 1+ years of Microsoft Office applications experience
  • Associate's degree, or 2+ years of professional or military experience
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of systems controls
  • Knowledge of Basic Mathematics
  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
  • Experience identifying, maintaining, and utilizing SCADA systems and KPI's
  • Work flexible schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Can commute to the specified work site
  • Can complete a 12-week training program at a designated training provider
  • Can commit to a 2-year onsite apprenticeship following a 12-week training period
  • Experience with Ladder Logic and structure programming from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in electronic technology or equivalent
  • Experience in field service engineering
  • Experience electrical, mechanical, or controls field
  • Experience with PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis in a continuous process or production environment
  • Experience with robotics work cells and control systems
  • Experience with electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment
  • Experience interpreting, modifying, and developing mechanical and electrical drawings
