Job summary

Kyndryl seeks a Shared Data discipline Solution Architect to define and govern end-to-end migrations of SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Teams content during global tenant consolidation.

You will standardise tooling, create runbooks, and enforce readiness gates to ensure high fidelity migrations with repeatable patterns and strong governance.

Qualifications

• Extensive tenant-to-tenant SharePoint/OneDrive migrations at enterprise scale.
• Deep knowledge of SharePoint Online/OneDrive permissions, sharing, IA, and metadata.
• Hands-on experience with ShareGate or similar migration tools.
• Strong understanding of Teams-connected content storage patterns.
• Experience building repeatable runbooks, validation gates, and evidence packs.
• Excellent troubleshooting mindset to isolate and fix issues quickly.

Responsibilities

• Standardise tooling approach: baselines, scheduling, throttling, reporting and error handling.
• Create runbooks for site/OneDrive/Teams migrations, permissions reconciliation, link remediation, metadata validation.
• Set and enforce quality gates and evidence packs for readiness and cutover.
• Develop exception framework for large libraries, legacy content and third-party integrations.
• Lead escalation on complex failures and dependencies.
• Produce operational metrics for factory execution and continuous improvement.

The Role

You are the Shared Data discipline Solution Architect responsible for defining and governing the end‑to‑end approach to migrating SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Teams‑connected file content during a global tenant‑to‑tenant M365 consolidation. This role exists because shared data migrations fail when they’re treated like a “tool run”. You will define the information architecture‑aware migration blueprint: permissions fidelity, sharing behaviour, metadata, large content, throttling, delta strategy, validation, exception handling and stabilisation. You will ensure the factory can execute with repeatable patterns using third‑party tooling (e.g., ShareGate or equivalent) and that wave migrations don’t collapse into rework.

Key Responsibilities

• Define target‑state information architecture and governance considerations relevant to tenant consolidation (sharing posture, permissions model, external sharing constraints, retention sensitivity, content ownership patterns).
• Define the tenant‑to‑tenant ODSP migration strategy including discovery, mapping, staging, delta moves, cutover approach and post‑move validation.
• Standardise tooling approach (e.g., ShareGate / Quest / equivalent): configuration baselines, scheduling patterns, throttling management, reporting outputs and error handling.
• Define runbooks for key migration tasks: site migrations, OneDrive migrations, Teams files migrations, permissions reconciliation, link/sharing remediation, metadata validation.
• Set and enforce quality gates: “ready to migrate”, “ready to cutover”, “accepted” criteria including evidence packs and sampling methodologies.
• Create the exception framework for difficult content (very large libraries, broken inheritance sprawl, customisations, third‑party integrations, legacy workflows, blocked file types).
• Define a repeatable approach to permissions and sharing parity (what is “equivalent”, what must be remediated, what requires business sign‑off).
• Lead escalation on complex failures: permissions anomalies, throttling, content mismatches, orphaned identities, broken sharing links, Teams dependency problems.
• Produce operational metrics for factory execution: throughput, failure categories, rework rate, top blockers and continuous improvement backlog.
• Align Shared Data cutovers to Identity/Devices/Teams readiness so user experience is protected.

Must‑Have

• Proven delivery of tenant‑to‑tenant SharePoint/OneDrive migrations at enterprise scale which must be evidenced.
• Deep SharePoint Online/OneDrive expertise (permissions, sharing, IA, metadata, site templates, modern site constructs, governance controls).
• Hands‑on experience using ShareGate (preferred) or comparable enterprise migration tooling and ability to interpret logs and failure modes.
• Strong understanding of Teams‑connected content storage patterns and how Teams usage intersects with SharePoint/OneDrive.
• Experience building factory‑ready runbooks, validation gates and evidence packs to drive repeatable execution.
• Strong troubleshooting mindset: can isolate issues quickly, define a fix pattern and push it into standard practice.

Good‑to‑Have

• Experience with highly regulated or complex governance environments (strict retention, compliance, sensitivity labelling interactions).
• Familiarity with scripting and automation for checks/remediation (PowerShell/Graph).
• Knowledge of common ODSP migration pitfalls: link behaviour, sharing model differences, permissions sprawl, performance constraints, change windows.

• Can drive standards adoption across multiple teams and regions without becoming a blocker.
• Clear communicator of data risk and end‑user impact; no false confidence.
• Builds trust with business content owners through clarity, not jargon.
• Maintains a high‑quality bar and reduces rework through proper readiness control.
• Coaches the factory SMEs; enables scaled delivery rather than acting as a bottleneck.

Shift / Working Pattern Notes

• This role operates within a three‑shift 24x7 Factory model. The specific rota will be confirmed, but shift handovers are mandatory and performance is measured on shift outcomes. Peak cutover windows may require schedule flexibility.
