Job description

Nutpaa is an early-stage deep-tech company building a real-time human movement perception and coaching platform that pairs on-device capture and compute with a mobile app, cloud services, and a partner ecosystem. Our systems run analysis on the edge, protect user privacy by design, and are built for low-latency, real-time experiences.

Our culture centers on technical depth, strong engineering ownership, peer collaboration, long-term thinking, and patent-protected innovation. This role is for a hands-on technical leader who can hold the whole system in their head and guide a team to ship it.

Role Summary

We are looking for a Solution Architect to own the end-to-end architecture of our system the mobile app, cloud and application services, on-device and cloud ML, edge runtime, and device integration and to guide our engineering team in delivering it as one coherent, production-grade solution. You will make the technology, structure, and interface decisions that hold the system together, and you will be accountable for how well the pieces fit and how reliably they ship.

A near-term priority is taking our mobile app to production. You will drive that delivery end to end architecture, backend and device integration, security, performance, CI/CD, testing, and release readiness while keeping everything aligned to our core architecture principles: analysis compute on the edge, a fixed cue/telemetry protocol between device and app, and a privacy-first, sealed-box posture where only derived data leaves the device. This is a technical-leadership role: primarily architecture and delivery guidance, but hands-on enough to be credible in design and code reviews.

The competencies that matter most to us: strong hands-on cross-platform mobile in both Flutter and React Native, solid backend and solution-architecture depth, and offline-first design done correctly (reliable sync, no data loss or duplicates) plus strong performance tuning and secure-by-default engineering. Cross-platform mobile experience in both Flutter and React Native is a firm requirement; other tool names in this description are examples of the class, where equivalent experience counts.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End Architecture: Own the architecture across mobile app, cloud/application services, edge runtime, and device integration how each part is built and how they connect.
• Technology & Patterns: Make and justify stack, pattern, and interface decisions; define clean, versioned API/protocol contracts between the app, services, and devices.
• Non-Functional Requirements: Set and enforce targets for performance, security, privacy, scalability, and reliability, and keep the system honest against our architecture invariants.

2. Mobile App to Production

• Drive the Release: Own productionizing our mobile app end to end: architecture, backend/API integration, device/edge connectivity, deployment, and release management to production.
• Production Readiness: Security and privacy (no raw video retained; only derived cues/authorized data leave the device), performance and latency targets, observability, and beta-to-production hardening.
• Deliver on Milestones: Sequence the work, manage delivery against milestones and measurable KPIs, and get the app shipped on schedule and to spec.

3. Delivery Leadership & Team Guidance

• Guide the Team: Technically lead and mentor the delivery team full-stack, UI/UX, CV/ML, and edge/hardware engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and clear standards; unblock them.
• Engineering Discipline: Set the bar for SDLC, Git workflows, automated testing, CI/CD, and documentation, so the team ships tested, maintainable, production-grade work.
• Risk & Governance: Run architecture governance; maintain a technical risk register; surface trade-offs and dependencies early and drive them to closure.

4. Integration & Cross-Functional Coordination

• Make It Fit: Integrate mobile, cloud, and edge/device into one coherent system; manage cross-module and cross-team dependencies.
• Stakeholders: Partner with the founder and, as it grows, the partner ecosystem; translate product goals into architecture and delivery, and support investor-demo and beta readiness.

Experience & Requirements

• Flutter & React Native: Minimum 3–4 years of strong, hands-on experience in both Flutter and React Native.
• Backend & Solution Architecture: Minimum 3–4 years of solid backend and solution-architecture experience.
• Architecture Understanding: Strong understanding of mobile architecture, offline-first design, APIs, cloud, and system design.
• Delivery & Hands-On: Guides a cross-functional team while staying hands-on leads design and code reviews and dives into the code when it matters.

Technical Breadth (tools are examples of the class)

• Cross-platform mobile & offline-first (required): Firm requirement hands-on experience with both Flutter (Dart) and React Native. Plus offline-first design with reliable sync (no data loss or duplicates); local databases (SQLite / Drift / Isar); background tasks; and state management.
• On-device & cloud ML: Edge inference (TensorFlow Lite / ONNX Runtime / Core ML; Snapdragon / Jetson) and cloud ML & serving (PyTorch, ONNX, Triton / TorchServe), including quantization, safe over-the-air model delivery, and embeddings + vector search.
• Backend & APIs: Python / FastAPI (or Node / Go); REST + OpenAPI; async, event-driven services with a message broker (RabbitMQ / Kafka / SQS); Argon2id + JWT + SSO; and role-based access control.
• Data: PostgreSQL, Redis, and object storage (S3); append-only / double-entry ledger design with derived balances; and search (Postgres FTS, or Typesense / Meilisearch / OpenSearch).
• Web: Next.js / Astro and Flutter Web, with judgment on web-native vs code-reuse per surface.
• Cloud & DevOps: AWS (or GCP / Azure); Kubernetes (EKS); Docker; CI/CD (GitHub Actions); infrastructure-as-code (Terraform); observability; multi-environment; and cloud / GPU cost control.

Non-Functional & Discipline

• Performance Tuning (must): Proven ability to profile and optimize on mobile (frame rate / jank, startup, memory, battery) and on the backend (API latency, database query and index tuning, caching, and load testing) measuring first, then fixing the real hotspots against clear performance budgets.
• Secure-by-Default (must): Builds security in from the start: a secure SDLC and OWASP Top-10 awareness; strong auth (Argon2id, JWT + refresh, least-privilege RBAC, SSO); secrets in a vault (never in code or the database); input validation and protection against SQL injection / XSS / CSRF; encryption in transit and at rest; dependency and secret scanning; and CI security gates. Given we handle sensitive personal and payment data, this is not optional.
• Scalable & Reliable Architecture: Designs systems that scale and stay reliable sound data modeling, caching, and awareness of data-protection basics (consent / retention, residency).
• Architecture Judgment: Spots the single biggest technical risk and de-risks it early with a focused prototype; designs forward-compatible, versioned protocols and contracts; makes pragmatic build-vs-buy calls.
• Quality: A genuine habit of testing, CI/CD, and engineering discipline and of instilling it in a team.

Preferred (Nice to Have)

• Payments: Good exposure to payments and billing Stripe (Billing / Connect) or equivalent, subscriptions / wallet flows, and reconciliation.
• Security / DevSecOps specialization: Deeper application-security / DevSecOps depth threat modeling, SAST / DAST / dependency scanning (e.g. Snyk / SonarQube / Semgrep / OWASP ZAP / Burp), cloud security (IAM / KMS / GuardDuty), IaC scanning, penetration testing, and compliance (SOC 2, GDPR, DPDP). We may hire this as a dedicated role depth here is a strong plus.
• Real-time 3D graphics / body model: Real-time 3D rendering on mobile (e.g. Filament or a comparable engine), glTF / GLB skeletal animation, level-of-detail, and performance / thermal tuning a strong plus, not a requirement.
• Audio / Voice: Experience with audio/voice stacks text-to-speech (e.g. Polly / Google / ElevenLabs), on-device TTS, and Bluetooth audio (A2DP / HFP).
• Analytics: Product analytics and data pipelines PostHog (or similar) and a warehouse (BigQuery / Redshift / ClickHouse).
• Edge / Device: Edge/IoT or device integration, BLE/pairing, or products backed by on-device ML.
• Domain & Stage: Health/fitness or hardware-connected consumer apps; and startup / 0-to-1 experience delivering under early-stage constraints.
