Job summary

Philips Iberica SAU is seeking a Software Technologist - C++ to join our Bengaluru team. The role focuses on designing, developing and testing software components for patient monitoring within interoperability scope on embedded Linux platforms.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of embedded Linux experience with hands-on C++ and strong knowledge of memory management, multithreading, and performance optimization. Experience with GTest, Gherkin/BDD, and TCP/HTTP protocols is valuable.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in embedded Linux with advanced C++ (C++17/20/23).
• Memory management, multithreading and performance optimization expertise.
• Experience with medical software processes (IEC 62304) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own design, develop and test software components for patient monitoring within interoperability scope.

Software Technologist - C++

Job Description

Minimum required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or Vocational Education in Information Technology or equivalent.

Your role:

• Own design, develop and test software components for patient monitoring within the interoperability and connectivity scope. This includes implementation of a framework to support third‑party device integration with our patient monitors.
• Analyze software, functional requirements to design and develop high‑quality software.
• Write efficient, maintainable code in C++ for embedded Linux systems following best practices and design patterns.
• Implement unit and component tests and develop automated test suites using GoogleTest (GTest) and Gherkin‑based BDD.
• Participate in an international Scrum team and engage in Scrum rituals, collaborating closely with device interoperability experts, software developers, and architects.
• Adopt AI‑enabled development tools and demonstrate measurable productivity improvements.
• Support software lifecycle management activities including documentation, sustaining engineering, defect resolution, and platform evolution.
• Optimize application performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks in resource‑constrained embedded Linux environments.

You're the right fit if:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or related technical field.
• 5+ year experience in embedded Linux with hands‑on advanced C++ (17/20/23).
• Good command of object‑oriented programming, memory management, multithreading, and performance optimization.
• Good to have experience in interoperability using HL7/FHIR/IEEE 11073 SDC in clinical environments.
• Experience with technical documentation, code reviews, and compliance with medical software development processes is a plus (e.g., IEC 62304).
• Experience with unit testing framework, Python, GTest, Gherkin, and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) for component testing and automation.
• Communication protocols - TCP/UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, WebSockets, RS‑232 protocol.
• Security‑by‑design: threat modelling, TLS, certificate management, vulnerability management.
• Tooling: Git, ADO/GitHub, Visual Studio, VS Code, CMake, unit/integration testing, static/dynamic analysis.
• Nice to have: gRPC/Protobuf, MQTT, Python for tooling/test harnesses, exposure to FDA/EU MDR expectations.

How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office‑based teams, this means working in‑person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full‑time presence in the company’s facilities.
