Job summary

Generac Power Systems is seeking a Software Systems Administrator to oversee scheduling, data collection, and engineering tools. The role includes migrations, upgrades, maintenance, and producing metrics/dashboards.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to capture VOC and provide training and documentation for users. The candidate will lead software upgrades for 100+ end users, manage multiple platforms, and work with SQL databases, Kepware, OPC UA, MES, and SCADA systems to support

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Any Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5 years of software administration experience
• Lead at least one Large Software system Upgrade / Migration of 100+ end users
• Has been responsible for managing at least 5 software platforms
• Proficient in Visual Studio and two or more programming languages (Python, C#, C++, Java, Go, Rust)
• Ability to deliver results while managing multiple projects
• Strong collaboration skills
• Understanding of engineering and production workflows

The Software Systems Administrator is responsible for oversight of Software Systems for Scheduling, Data Collection, Engineering Tools, Production Tools including migrations, upgrades, maintenance, documentation and metric reporting. Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and maintain a Voice Of Customer (VOC) from software users and consumers of data. Creates and maintains metric reports and/or dashboards. Provides training and documentation for users. Proposes solutions to leadership to address needs of the software users and consumers of data.

Major Responsibilities

• Drive results that are specifically targeted to support engineering, manufacturing, and different business groups.

• Effectively manage the processes and support documentation regarding the Software Systems.

• Analyze, develop, write and maintain code for reporting performance metrics with input from engineering & business groups.

• Work with leaders and stakeholders to understand areas of improvement regarding the software systems and supporting processes.

• Develop and train software users.

• Engage in and support the indirect business processes as they relate to user interaction with the software.

• Foster collaboration between engineering groups to identify and harvest new engineering concepts, technologies, techniques, standards and procedures.

Minimum Job Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Any Engineering or equivalent experience

Certification / License

Work Experience

• 5 years of software administration experience
• Lead at least one Large Software system Upgrade / Migration of 100+ end users
• Has been responsible for managing at least 5 software platforms

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Proficient in Visual Studio and at least two programming languages, Python, C#, C++, Java, Go, Rust, etc.
• Ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing and quality of outcomes.
• Demonstrated strong collaboration skills
• Solid understanding of engineering technical issues/needs as related to development cycles and operation workflows.

Work Experience

• Experience with Manufacturing Software Systems, Historians, Kepware, OPC UA, MES, SCADA, PLC Programming, High Speed Data Collection Systems
• Worked with Large Data Collection Systems at Enterprise Level
• Managed SQL databases,
• Working with Git & GitHub, specifically in creating workflows
• Has built some software system from scratch or became SME in a custom software system

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Good communication skills & has supported engineers / technical groups from a software standpoint.
• Regularly uses AI to write and modify code, GitHub Co-Pilot or Claude Code
• Self-driven, highly motivated, flexible and high capacity to learn.
