Job summary

MetLife is seeking a Software Platform Engineer in India to design and deliver full‑stack solutions using Angular and Java Spring. The role emphasizes scalable UI, secure flows, and collaboration across QA and DevOps for end‑to‑end releases.

You will work on modernizing platforms and contributing to cross‑service libraries while supporting CI/CD and cloud‑native initiatives within a global team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience with Angular frontend and Java Spring backend.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Experience with Azure cloud services and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of Linux command line and containerization.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement frontend features in Angular/TypeScript with strong maintainability and performance.
• Maintain and improve application architecture, including module boundaries, state management patterns.
• Build robust, testable UI logic and increase unit test reliability.
• Enforce and improve code quality practices.
• Support CI/CD pipeline stability and optimize frontend build/deploy workflows across environments.
• Contribute to secure and resilient user-facing flows, including authentication-adjacent and password-recovery experiences.
• Collaborate with QA, and DevOps teams to troubleshoot integration and release issues end-to-end.
• Participate in controlled modernization where legacy build/runtime patterns coexist with newer toolchains.
• Deliver production-quality code with strong test coverage, reliable migrations, and secure integration patterns.
• Contribute to shared core library evolution (Kotlin Multiplatform) for reusable cross-service and cross-UI functionality.
• Support release engineering activities: Gradle builds, artifact publishing, versioning, and Docker image delivery.
• Participate in troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for integration, environment, and production‑like issues.

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Platform Engineer, a position with hands‑on in Java Full stack development. He/she should be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of software development solutions within a defined system, platform or product, based on a set of standards and processes which establish consistency across the enterprise data, reduce risk and promote efficiencies in support of the organization’s goals and objectives. This family can be used for both roles that require a complete technology stack of capabilities as well as roles that require to work on a single technology stack, application or platform.

Software or Platform engineering role can be used where the work requires a minimal amount of technology stack capabilities, work on a single application or roles that support platforms, SaaS, COTS

Key Relationships

Internal Stake Holder – EMEA ART Leader, ART Leadership team, India EMEA Technology AVP, and Business process Owners for EMEA Technology.

Key Responsibilites

• Design and implement frontend features in Angular/TypeScript with strong attention to maintainability and performance including maintaining backend features in Java/Kotlin.
• Maintain and improve application architecture, including module boundaries, state management patterns, and shared component quality.

Education

Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent

Technical Skills

• Main Skill: Angular along with Java Spring Framework / Spring Boot
• Proven experience in building and consuming RESTful APIS using core HTTP protocols.
• Secondary skill: NodeJS and MSSQL
• Gradle and Maven
• Must have hands‑on knowledge on commandline linux
• Have experience working in Azure DevOps (boards)
• Containerisation (Podman, aks)
• Have hands‑on worked on GitHub Copilot, GitHub Enterprise
• Ability to work with Azure Cloud services development and deployment.
• Knowledge in Apache Webserver is Desirable
• Knowledge on Github is a must have.
