Job summary

Amdocs is seeking a Non-Functional Testing Lead to own quality and reliability of telecom products under real‑world workloads. You will design, drive, and evolve NFT strategies across performance, scalability, resilience, and resource efficiency for on‑prem and cloud deployments.

You will develop comprehensive NFT scenarios, simulate operator environments, detect bottlenecks, and work with developers to optimize Java, databases, OS, and hardware. Amdocs values growth, flexibility, and impact.

Qualifications

Strong expertise in performance engineering for high-load, network-intensive systems.
Hands-on tuning and bottleneck identification in distributed telecom-grade environments.
Solid OSI model and practical networking knowledge.
Experience with relational databases, SQL tuning under load.
Good Linux skills including CPU, I/O, networking and resources.

Responsibilities

Define and lead NFT strategy for performance, load, soak, and failover testing across products.
Design realistic high-load NFT scenarios for calls, data, and notifications.
Identify and analyze production and staging bottlenecks; collaborate with devs to fix.
Measure and optimize system behavior; track throughput, latency, CPU/memory, GC.
Own NFT tooling, regression suites, and observability dashboards; drive automation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support pre-production certification.

Team Introduction:

The team supports three products deployed on-premises in mobile operators' data centers and in the cloud, with installations around the world:

Product 1: Handles mobile calls, including call forwarding, rejection, and charging.
Product 2: Handles mobile data sessions, including protocol conversion, session correlation, and network-topology protection.
Product 3: Sends notifications to subscribers through SMS, email, push notifications, and other protocols based on incoming requests and remote-server availability.

These products are designed for network-intensive communication. They are based on event-driven application servers and handle tens of thousands of operations per second

What will your job look like?

As the Non-Functional Testing Lead, you will own the quality and reliability of the products under real-world telecom workloads. You will design, drive, and continuously evolve the non-functional testing strategy across performance, scalability, resilience, stability, and resource efficiency.

Define and Lead the NFT Strategy

Develop comprehensive strategies for performance, load, soak, and failover testing across all products.
Ensure coverage for telecom-specific behaviors, including session surges, protocol latency, message bursts, and failover scenarios.

Design and Execute NFT Scenarios

Create realistic, high-load test scenarios for mobile calls, data sessions, and notification-delivery workflows.
Simulate complex operator environments, including network latency, bandwidth constraints, and protocol interactions.

Identify and Analyze Performance Issues

Detect bottlenecks in production and staging environments.
Localize issues such as high CPU load, memory leaks, locked threads, database-related problems, and network-related problems.
Reproduce identified issues in controlled test environments.
Collaborate with developers to resolve performance and reliability issues.

Measure and Optimize System Behavior

Track key performance indicators, including:
- Throughput
- Latency
- CPU and memory utilization
- Garbage-collection performance
- Database-query performance
- Network I/O efficiency
Provide tuning recommendations across Java, databases, operating systems, hardware, and configuration layers.

Own and Improve NFT Tooling and Automation

Maintain and optimize the non-functional regression suite.
Reduce execution time and improve the stability of test runs.
Enhance observability through metrics, logs, dumps, and monitoring dashboards.

Collaborate Across Teams

Work closely with development teams to ensure that new features meet performance expectations.
Support pre-production certification activities with operators and cloud deployments.

Must-Have Qualifications

Strong expertise in performance engineering, particularly for high-load, network-intensive systems.
Hands-on experience with performance tuning and bottleneck identification in distributed or telecom-grade systems.
Solid understanding of the OSI model and practical networking fundamentals.
Experience with relational databases, including:
- Indexing strategies
- SQL tuning
- Query optimization under load
Strong Linux knowledge, including an understanding of how Linux uses:
- CPU
- Network resources
- I/O and storage
Experience with diagnostic tools and techniques, including:
- `tcpdump` for packet capture
- Thread dumps
- Heap dumps
- Java class histograms

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with telecom and messaging protocols, including:
- Diameter
- SMTP
- SMPP
- CAP
- MAP
