Job Overview

FinTech is Booking.com's financial technology business unit - responsible for the products and platforms that enable Booking.com to accept money, move it safely, pay partners, and meet its financial reporting and compliance obligations. Within FinTech, Financial Systems provides the technology foundation that digitises and scales end-to-end financial processes, from order-to-cash, invoicing to treasury, tax, and regulatory compliance.

The Finance Partner Services (FPS) track, part of Financial Systems' Revenue Lifecycle Systems group, owns the partner-facing financial service layer: the experiences, communications, and operational capabilities that help Booking.com's accommodation partners understand, manage, and resolve their financial interactions with us.

The MaaS Outbound team builds and operates Booking.com's centralized, multi-channel engine for outbound partner communications. Where FinTech teams once built their own messaging integrations independently, MaaS Outbound provides a single API-first platform that handles channel orchestration (Email, Extranet Inbox, Pulse, banners, and increasingly AI-powered outbound calling), delivery tracking, and operational visibility. The platform supports critical regulatory and financial journeys, processing tens of thousands of messages at peak.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead this team. You will own the team's health, technical direction, and delivery while coaching and developing engineers - working closely with product managers, peer EMs, and stakeholders across Billing, RegTech, and Compliance to shape how Booking.com communicates with its partners at scale.

• Engineering planning and delivery, technical quality and use of best practices within own team;

• Delivery of wider engineering strategic objectives;

• Ability to get into the technical detail (where required) to coach, support and mentor the team;

• Drive a culture of ownership and technical excellence, including reactive work such as incident escalations;

• Learn new technologies and keep abreast of existing technologies to be able to share learnings and apply these to a variety of projects when needed;

• Contribute to the evolution of best practices across the department.

Architecture & Product Strategy

• Define, shape and deliver the roadmap;

• Build new products, processes and operational plans;

• Negotiate on the strategic importance of own product roadmap features;

• Drive innovation in the team;

• Own the architecture across the team and drive architectural alignment.

What you’ll bring:

• Strong people management skills and experience;

• Excellent communicator with strong stakeholder management experience, good commercial awareness and technical vision;

• You are a humble and thoughtful technology leader, you lead by example and gain your teammates’ respect through actions, not the title;

• 6+ years of experience in software development;

• At least 3 years of experience leading and managing a team of engineers in a fast-paced and complex environment;

• Strong Coding & System design skills with ability to get hands-on with your team if needed;

• Experience with Java, Kafka, and MySQL or relevant technologies is expected;

• Experience with GenAI driven products at scale is a plus;

• Deep experience with unit, integration and end-to-end testing paradigms;

• Experience in working on products with a large customer base and company wide impact;

• Experience in designing and architecting APIs, dealing with high traffic and security concerns;

• Past experience with Payments or FinTech and working in a regulated environment is a plus;

• Strong analytical skills and data-driven mindset.
