Job summary

IND - 2028 Takeda Innovations India Private Limited seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design and own MCP servers, bridging AI clients with core systems. You will implement MCP integrations using Next.js, Node.js and TypeScript, and collaborate across global teams in a fast-paced agile setup.

You will architect secure OAuth 2.0/OIDC flows, mentor developers, and drive coding standards while delivering scalable backend solutions for health tech applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong backend skills with JavaScript/TypeScript, Next.js and Node.js.
• Hands-on with Azure services: Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, Dataverse.
• Experience designing integrations between systems and middleware patterns.
• Solid knowledge of OAuth 2.0/OIDC and enterprise identity management.
• Familiarity with MCP and AI/ML tools in Azure is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor development teams and set coding standards.

Responsibilities

• Build systems of medium-to-high complexity with minimal guidance.

• Mentor a development team and participate in coding standards and reviews.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into tech solutions.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Software Engineer for MCP, you will design, develop, and own our Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers—bridging AI clients with our core systems. You will be a critical part of our mission to becoming the most trusted digital biopharmaceutical company in the world. You will provide technical expertise in innovative product development, ensuring seamless integration and efficient utilization of relevant technologies. With your experience, you will build user‑centric health tech solutions, integrate with our technical ecosystem, and be a member of an agile team of top‑tier developers for Takeda to succeed in this mission.

Responsibilities

• Deliver MCP integration in modern Back‑End (Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript) frameworks and libraries.
• Integrate with Microsoft’s ecosystem—Power Platform (Power Automate, Dataverse), Azure Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid—to expose enterprise data via MCP.
• Architect OAuth 2.0/OIDC on‑behalf‑of (OBO) flows and token exchange for secure identity propagation into MCP servers.
• Develop and maintain custom connectors or small code modules (TypeScript/C#) that sit alongside low‑code workflows.
• Integrate external data sources and simple LLM calls (via OpenAI Responses API or similar) as needed.
• Build systems of medium‑to‑high complexity with minimal guidance and supervision.
• Implement reusable libraries across applications.
• Develop application code and unit/integration tests in selected framework and/or library.
• Ensure high performance for global users through performance tests and tuning.
• Guide the team to develop products with good data quality and in line with Takeda’s data governance framework and strategy.
• Mentor a development team in building custom applications, workflows, and integrations.
• Participate in setting coding standards, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Offer expertise and support in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
• Mentor the team through work estimation based on user stories and functional requirements or wireframes.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand business requirements and design technical solutions.
• Create architectural diagrams, define system integrations, and establish best practices for development.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional technical teams, including business analysts, project managers, and technical engineers in other global locations, to understand requirements, provide technical insights, and ensure successful project delivery.
• Communicate effectively to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related study, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in developing software.
• Strong hands‑on experience as a back‑end engineer with following tech stack: JavaScript/TypeScript, Next.js, Node.js and Vercel.
• Hands‑on with Azure services: Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, Dataverse (for .NET track).
• Extensive experience in designing and implementing integrations between systems using middleware tools.
• Familiarity with various integration patterns, protocols, and technologies (such as REST, SOAP, JSON, XML).
• Solid background in OAuth 2.0/OIDC (including OBO flows) and enterprise identity management.
• Fundamental knowledge of the Model Context Protocol (MCP), context‑sharing patterns, AI/ML toolset within Azure is a plus!
• Demonstrated skills in guiding and mentoring development teams.
• Ability to provide technical guidance, set coding standards, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
• Experience in prototyping, as well as operating at scale, with focus on writing clean, encapsulated and well documented code.
• Adept at analyzing complex technical issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions.
• Proficient in debugging, performance optimization, and troubleshooting mobile/web applications.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, business acumen, and enterprise knowledge.
• Proficiency in English in both verbal and written communication is amust.
