Job summary

Optum India is seeking a Software Engineer to develop software solutions across the full SDLC, working closely with Technical and Project Managers to refine backlogs and user stories. You will contribute to design, estimation, and delivery while supporting business applications and driving continuous improvement.

The role requires strong knowledge of .NET, C#, ASP.NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern web frameworks, with a focus on secure distributed systems and DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years IT experience in a software development environment.

Growing together.The primary responsibility of Software Engineer is to develop software solutions in accordance with assigned projects and sprint goal. Software Engineer also works closely with the Technical Manager and Project Manager/Scrum Master towards backlog and user story refinement. Software Engineer shall have deep understanding of complete software development life cycle and shall possess demonstrable ability to work independently.

Primary Responsibilities

• Software Development - Complete programming and system analysis tasks as assigned by Technical Manager
• Design and Estimate - Based on requirement definitions, recommend solutions with pros and cons Create design documents with estimates of time to complete
• Work with Technical Manager to review requirements and design documents to ensure that project deliverables are met
• Project Delivery - Identify and communicate issues or risks with project deliverables
• Recommend possible technical solutions for issues and/or problems encountered when work on a project
• Application Support - On an as needed basis, provide user support for business applications Effectively communicate with users to answer questions and resolve urgent requests
• Work with lesser experienced staff to help them improve their development skills and craft
• Bring "continuous improvement" and learning mindset to the team and encourage learning and professional growth in others
• Analyzes and investigates
• Provides explanations and interpretations within area of expertise

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• 3+ years IT experience in a software development environment
• Experience in system design and building secure distributed applications
• Experience in project management
• Proven analysis, design, and programming experience
• Proven solid technical knowledge in Microsoft .NET and related technologies
• Proven ability to understand database structures and be able to manipulate, extract, and update data
• Technology Skills
  • Clear and demonstrable understanding of Object Oriented Programming and distributed system architecture
  • .NET, C#, ASP.NET experience
  • JavaScript, TypeScript experience
  • CSS3, HTML5, AngularJS, Angular, and other modern web development frameworks experience
  • Experience in web services, Web Api, RESTful services, microservices and API security best practices
  • Experience developing windows services
  • Experience creating stored procedure, database views, triggers, indexes
  • Understand the concepts and best practices of DevOps and modern CI/CD

Preferred Qualifications

• Technology Skills
  • .NET Framework 3.5 - 4.8, .NET Core, and .NET 8/10 experience
  • Service-Oriented Architecture and Enterprise Service Bus - NServiceBus, MSMQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka experience
  • SOLID principles, Enterprise Design Patterns, Event Driven Architecture experience
  • NUnit, Test Driven Development (TDD) experience
  • NHibernate, Dapper, Entity Framework or equivalent ORM experience
  • IIS (or equivalent) experience
  • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SRSS) experience
  • Agile development experience using SCRUM
  • PowerShell experience
