Job summary

Commonwealth Bank of Australia, India seeks a Staff Software Engineer to drive scalable software architectures for cloud deployment in Bengaluru. You will collaborate with tech leads and architects to finalize designs, optimize the technology stack, and plan effective testing strategies to ensure reliable services.

The role requires 11+ years in designing across frontend/backend, expertise in React/TypeScript, cloud platforms, microservices, and CI/CD automation.

Qualifications

• 11+ years of designing and implementing scalable, maintainable software solutions.
• Proficiency in React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3/SCSS.
• Strong understanding of SSR, Server Components, and state management.
• Experience with Micro Frontends, API integration patterns and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Azure/AWS or cloud platforms, Docker and Kubernetes, CI/CD platforms and observability tools.
• Good understanding of testing with Jest, RTL, Cypress/Playwright and integration testing.
• Languages: Python, .NET or Go; API design and building distributed services.
• Experience with microservices and domain-driven design patterns.
• Familiarity with AI-powered engineering tools to improve productivity.
• Cloud & Platform: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Engineering Excellence: CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability, DevSecOps, Agile.

Job description

You will be expected to perform the following tasks and responsibilities in a manner consistent with CBA's

• Staff Software Engineer will work with our crew tech lead and/or other solution/ enterprise architectures and will be working in a team.
• Focus on finalizing the design and overall solution for development and deployment to our cloud infrastructure.
• Will optimize solutions to simplify our technology landscape.
• Solve complex, technical challenges so crews can focus on business outcomes. Will be planning efficient testing strategies, considering reliable and maintainable application components.
• Contributing to architectural discussions and propose improvements, role modelling standards and best practices
• Actively participating in code reviews, maintain high quality code bases and assist in documentation for knowledge sharing
• Work on cross-functional projects, ensuring alignment and addressing inter-dependencies
• Coaching and mentoring junior members in the team

Essential Skills:

• Minimum exp of 11+ yrs extensive experience in designing and implementing scalable, maintainable and reliable software solutions
• Proficiency in React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 / SCSS
• Deep understanding of: Server-Side Rendering (SSR), React Server Components & State management solutions (Redux, Zustand, Context API)
• Strong experience with Micro Frontends, Component-driven architecture, API integration patterns, Event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Azure/AWS, Docker and Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or equivalent CI/CD platforms, Monitoring and observability tools.
• Good understanding of Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress / Playwright & End-to-end and integration testing strategies.
• Strong experience on Python, .NET, Go or similar modern software development languages
• Designing and building APIs, services and distributed systems
• Microservices and event-driven architectures
• Modern application design patterns including Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
• Experience working across backend, frontend and integration capabilities
• Safe and effective use of AI-powered engineering tools to improve development productivity and quality
• Cloud & Platform: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or CloudFormation)
