Job summary

Blackbaud India is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to drive design and technology direction for our cloud-based platform. You will collaborate with engineering, product, and UX teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions and elevate engineering standards.

You will mentor engineers, improve observability and CI/CD practices, and stay ahead of AI and cloud innovations to accelerate business impact. This leadership role requires deep C#, .NET, and cloud experience in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of enterprise software engineering experience.
• Expertise with C#, .NET, and Microsoft technologies.
• Strong cloud-native architecture knowledge (Kubernetes, Azure or AWS).
• Experience with identity and access management and security practices.
• Strong web technologies experience (Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, RESTful APIs).

About The Role

We’re looking for a strategic and technically accomplished Principal Software Engineer to help shape the future of Blackbaud’s cloud-based solution delivery platform. In this role, you’ll work across engineering, product, and user experience teams to influence technology direction, elevate engineering standards, and deliver high-impact capabilities that expand what’s possible for the social good community.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the design, development, and evolution of secure, scalable cloud-native applications and platform capabilities that improve reliability, performance, and developer productivity.
• Define technical strategy and architectural direction for solution delivery platforms while championing modern engineering practices within a DevSecOps culture.
• Partner with product management, user experience, and engineering teams to translate business objectives into innovative technical solutions that create meaningful customer value.
• Drive engineering excellence through high-quality code, thoughtful design reviews, automation, observability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and influence engineers across teams, helping establish best practices, elevate technical capabilities, and foster a culture of learning and collaboration.
• Collaborate across the organization to solve complex technical challenges, improve operational effectiveness, and support business-critical applications and services.
• Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends, identifying opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence, cloud services, automation, and platform innovations to accelerate impact.

What You’ll Bring

• 10+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise software applications using C#, .NET, and modern Microsoft technologies.
• Deep knowledge of cloud-native application architecture and data platform design, including Kubernetes, Azure or AWS, SQL Server, Cosmos DB, and distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of identity and access management solutions and enterprise security practices, including Azure Active Directory, Okta, Google Workspace, and related technologies.
• Experience building modern web applications using Angular, JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS, RESTful APIs, and service-oriented architectures.
• Proven experience with Git-based development workflows, continuous integration and delivery practices, monitoring and observability solutions, and production support for highly available systems.
• Preferred: Experience managing public APIs, supporting developer ecosystems, and working with enterprise email technologies such as SMTP or Postfix.
